Where To Eat, Shop and Play: Wilston 4051
Get better acquainted with Style HQ's very own stomping ground.
We’re truly lucky at Style Magazines to be headquarted in the stunning, northern Brisbane suburb of Wilston. Nestled among Wilston Village, we are #blessed with an array of cafés that fuel us with caffeine, restaurants that support us when we feel like a cheeky cheatday meal, and homewares stores that delight us with their stunning selection of goods (as well as a friendly sausage dog named Winston).
Tucked neatly between Newmarket and Fortitude Valley, Wilston is a leafy hub, offering the perfect combination of suburban ease and metropolitan lifestyle. With a great array of restaurants, cafe’s and homeware stores in the mix, including Cafe 63, NoHo, Bar Grill, D’Lish Fish & Chippery, Cold Rock and Alcove Cafe and Deli, it’s a place we are so happy to call our home-away-from-home. Always keen to get to know our neighbours a little more, we took to the main avenue to discover some of the newer retailers in the area, as well as some old favourites…
Freja’s Cafe
The brainchild of pastry chef Freja, and her partner, Nathan— formerly of Stokehouse Q—Freja’s is a charming little café boasting a menu of delicious, high-quality food and tempting sweet treats. Set in a stylish interior, the space is cosy yet open and makes for the perfect spot to enjoy a bit to eat.
Here, you’ll find an innovative take on traditional menu items. This is no ordinary cafe. From the matcha pancakes (which are a personal favourite of the Style team) to the stuffed croissants, made fresh daily, at Freja’s it’s evident that there is no substitute for quality.
Whether you’re catching up with friends for a long lunch, or are grabbing a quick coffee or fresh squeezed juice to kickstart your day, Freja’s makes for the perfect choice.
Parade Lifestyle & Gifts
Celebrating all things beautiful, both big and small, Parade should be your first point of call when hunting for a finishing touch to add to your home, or shopping for a gift for a loved one. Stocking an impressive range of Australian brands, including Elk and Robert Gordon Pottery.
Step through the doors of Parade, on Wilston’s bustling Kedron Brooke Rd, and you’ll find an array of unique homewares and gifts. It’s clear that each piece has been carefully selected by John and the team at Parade, and their passion for beautiful pieces shows through in their helpful, friendly service. Go in for a card, and you’ll leave with a newfound appreciation for an Australian brand, or with the desire to redo your whole living area.
And of course, we must mention their beautiful window displays, which serve as a testament to the calibre of offerings that await inside.
Nat-Sui
Fans of Nat-Sui will be thrilled to hear that the affordable luxury lifestyle brand, that stocks designer shoes and accessories that are classic with a twist, has recently relocated from Fortitude Valley to Wilston. Whether you’ve got a special occasion to attend or simply just want a pair of statement heels to take your look from desk to date night, you’ll find it all at Nat-Sui.
Each product is hand-made using luxe materials such as matte, metallic and patent leathers, soft suedes, hand-treated natural water snakes and other exotic skins. When it comes to added embellishments, Nat-Sui don’t do things by half. Think shimmering Swarovski crystals, vibrant jewels and bold studs.
It’s this affordable luxury that has made Nat-Sui a popular addition to Wilston Village. Since arriving in Wilston, the beautiful boutique has been a favourite of the Style team. Many a lunchtime has been lost browsing through the unique, stand-out offerings.

NoHo
While Wilston is a (very) generous stone’s throw from the Big Apple, when cravings for a good ol’ fashioned cheeseburger or chicken wings strikes, NoHo should be your first point of call. Here you’ll find all your fave classic NYC eats, such as corn dogs, Cuban sandwiches, southern fried chicken burgers, Philly steaks and beer battered fries.
Alcove Café And Deli
An old favourite of Wilston Village, Alcove Café and Deli has been dishing up delicious brunches since 2012. Many of its customers are regulars, all returning for the mouthwatering fare and friendly service. Owners Sep and Fergus are focused on bringing together the best local flavours from South East Queensland. Pop in for breakfast, lunch, coffee or to pick up a sweet treat to takeaway. Chances are you’ll run into one of the Style girls grabbing their much-loved avo toast.
