Brisbane Spots Open on Ekka Show Day

The heroes Brisbane needs

By Alice Sinclair | 15th August 2017

Ekka Wednesday, much like Christmas and New Years Day, can leave many Brisbanites either hiding indoors or fleeing to the beach, unsure of how to pass the time while most businesses and retailers close their doors.

But we’d hate for you to waste your novelty midweek work-free hours four seasons deep on Netflix. Particularly when weather forecasts are signaling sunshine and blue skies.

Luckily for us, several Brisbane restaurants and bars will be nobly working all through the Ekka Holiday.

Here is where to while away your Ekka Wednesday.

Riverbar & Kitchen | City

A classy waterfront favourite, Riverbar & Kitchen will be trading as usual until 10pm on Ekka Wednesday, servicing all your cocktail and nibblie needs.

Want to dive into the Ekka spirit (or spirits) early? From 5pm tonight, Riverbar is hosting an Ekka Eve Party where you’ll be able to enjoy a pop-up bar, fairy floss and free popcorn by the Brisbane Riviera.

Darling & Co | Paddington

Did somebody say bottomless bellinis? On Ekka Wednesday, Darling & Co will be hosting two lunch sittings (either 12pm or 2:30pm), where for just $39 guests can enjoy a main meal and 2 hours of peachy, fizzy deliciousness. From 6:30pm, they will be open as usual for dinner and drinks.
