Hey, Brisbanites! This April, our beloved River City is practically bursting with events to keep you entertained, from immersive experiences to thrilling live shows. Whether you’re on the hunt for fun activities for the whole family to enjoy or looking to shake up date night with cool new events, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. So, pull up a chair and kick back – here what’s on in Brisbane this April. 

Dopamine Land | Tickets available now

Move over Disneyland, because this new multisensory installation is taking your spot as the happiest place on Earth! With locations in London and Washington DC, Dopamine Land is bringing its neon lights and (adult-friendly) ball pits down under. A fun day out with the kids or a unique date night experience, why not take a break from reality and boost your dopamine levels? Dopamine Land will open on 28 May, with tickets on sale now. 

Hey Chica! Cinco de Mayo Fiesta | Tickets available now

No one does a fiesta like Fortitude Valley’s Latin-inspired hotspot Hey Chica! The ultimate Cinco de Mayo celebration, Hey Chica! is transforming Brunswick Street Mall into a festive block party complete with margarita stations, endless tacos and churros, and of course, a mariachi band to take the party to the next level. The celebrations will take place on 5 May at 11am, with kids allowed in attendance until 8pm when the dance floor opens up and the DJs commence. Ready for a street party like no other? Italian Renaissance Alive | All month

Hey, art lovers! Get ready to experience iconic works of art like never before with this immersive exhibition displaying at Surfers Paradise’s HOTA. From the creatives behind Van Gogh Alive, this multisensory experience will bring masterpieces like the Sistine Chapel and the Mona Lisa to life, underscored by a beautiful operatic score. Running until 4 August, grab your tickets here and travel back in time through one of history’s most influential artistic periods.

The Pink Flamingo Spiegeland | All month

They don’t call us BrisVegas for nothing! The Gold Coast’s entertainment phenomenon, The Pink Flamingo, has landed in Northshore and we couldn’t be more stoked about it! This bespoke entertainment venue, Pink Flamingo Spiegeland, dazzles up to 400 guests with its trio of world-class productions showing eight times a week. Choose from Suavé, a burlesque-meets-Vegas-meets-comedy-show act, La Teaze, a Moulin Rouge-inspired extravaganza, and Ripped, a Magic Mike-esque male strip show, for an unforgettable night of fun, glamour, and entertainment. Circus Fun House | Saturday, 27 April onwards

What if we said the kids could join in on the fun too? Yep, Pink Flamingo Spiegeland is introducing a spectacular stage show specifically for the little ones. Join Ringmaster Francois and his circus crew as they entertain with comedy, acrobatics, music, and of course, mind-bending circus acts. A fantastic show for the adventurous children in your life, the show arrives at Northshore on Saturday, 27 April, but tickets are available now.

Queensland Ballet A Midsummer Night’s Dream | Friday, 12 April – Saturday, 27 April

Experience the enchanting world of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, reimagined by the Queensland Ballet. Running from 12 April until 27 April, enter the magical, moonlit forest where enchanting costumes, sets, and choreography take centre stage. Aspley Homemaker City’s Family Fun Day | Saturday, 13 April

It’s all in the name at Aspley Homemaker City’s Family Fun Day. Bring the kids along for a jam-packed day of excitement starting at 10am on Saturday, 13 April. Dining in the Dark at C’est Bon | Wednesday, 17 April and Tuesday, 30 April
