Guy Grossi’s First Brisbane Restaurant Echoes The Amalfi Coast With Playfully Innovative Dishes
Now that’s amoré
Superstar chef Guy Grossi has officially unveiled his first Brisbane restaurant and needless to say, it’s a doozy.
Whisking diners away to the Amalfi Coast, Settimo at The Westin Brisbane offers a line-up of playful coastal-inspired dishes elevated with his signature Italian flair and inventive spirit. It’s a welcome addition to his stable of restaurants, including the recently awarded two hatted Grossi Florentino, as well as Ombra and Arlechin in Melbourne, and Garum at The Westin Perth. However, don’t expect a carbon copy of his previous portfolio – Settimo showcases a fresh perspective that heroes both the raw ingredients and masterful art of Italian cuisine.
Drawing on the abundance of local produce alongside some international hero ingredients, the light and breezy vibe sees menu highlights like the delightfully zesty pasta al limone, the slow-cooked Papa’s lamb, and the peperoni imbottiti – stuffed peppers with bread, capers, and parmigiano. Of course, just like how your Nonna wouldn’t send you home without a sweet treat, Settimo offers classic finishes such as their gelato, delizie al limone, and Grossi’ arguably perfect tiramisu.
The venue itself mirrors the iconic Italian coastline, in split face stone that references the Amalfi cliffs, white Fibonacci stone and terrazzo akin to Mediterranean architecture, and pops of pastel blue to reflect the aquamarine mirrors and famed towns. Designed by Mills Gorman Architects who are also behind Grossi’s Melbourne restaurants and seating 150 patrons, Settimo also boasts a custom-designed private dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows and downtown views.
“We have created a journey for diners that is inspired by one of the world’s most aspirational destinations, the Amalfi Coast, coupled with the urban energy and sunny coastal atmosphere of the city,” Grossi said. “We’ve assembled a team of passionate and highly skilled experts who are ready and waiting to welcome diners to the venue.”
Settimo is now open on Level One at The Westin Brisbane. Book here.
