A New All-Day Dining Destination Has Arrived By The Water In Newstead
Waterfront feasting
By Kiri Johnston | 27th May 2026Dining by the water has a way of turning a quick meal into an all-day affair. One drink becomes two, lunch drifts into sunset, and suddenly, nobody’s in a rush to leave. That’s the energy behind The Greenhouse Newstead, Brisbane’s newest all-day dining destination now open in Newstead.
The latest venture from Rebelo Group, the team behind Stanton and The Wolf, The Greenhouse brings together fire-driven cooking, curved architecture, reflective water features and open-air dining in one sprawling riverside venue designed around the way Brisbane locals like to live.
From the moment you walk in, the venue feels noticeably different to the usual dark, enclosed restaurant setup. Sunlight bounces off still ponds surrounding the Water Terrace, greenery spills through the space, and nearly every corner feels connected to the outdoors. Even on a busy afternoon, there’s a calmness to it. “We wanted to bring together architecture, nature and dining into one experience, something that feels effortless, but considered at every touchpoint,” says founder Fabian Rebelo.
Rather than focusing on one specific dining occasion, The Greenhouse shifts naturally throughout the day. Early breakfasts roll into working lunches, long afternoons become sunset drinks, and dinner stretches well past dessert. The venue feels built for people who order another bottle without really discussing it first.
At the centre of the space is an open-fire kitchen led by Executive Chef Evan White, with a menu centred around charcoal, woodfire and rotisserie cooking. Rotisserie chicken from Golden Cockerel, slow-cooked Pyrenees lamb shoulder, wood-fired pizzas and dry-aged duck crown headline the menu, with dishes designed to land in the middle of the table and be shared slowly across the afternoon or evening. The drinks list leans European in spirit while spotlighting Australian and New Zealand producers, with a strong by-the-glass offering that suits the venue’s slower pace.
The Greenhouse also taps into something Brisbane’s dining scene has been leaning towards lately: venues people can actually use across an entire day. Somewhere you can meet for breakfast, come back for lunch, stop in for a drink, or settle into dinner without the space ever feeling too formal or occasion-driven.
With the Water Terrace, open-fire kitchen and indoor-outdoor layout all working together, the venue feels designed around how people want to spend time in Brisbane… in a calming outside venue and usually with another round ordered. Greenhouse Newstead is now open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
