Meet The New Fortitude Valley Wine Bar That’s Also A Thrift Shop

eat. sip. thrift. repeat.

By Olivia Middleton | 11th September 2026

Nothing is more exciting than finding something unique – that thrill of pulling a vintage piece from an op-shop rack, sipping a locally made small-batch wine, or meeting your girls for dinner at a quirky new bar. The joy of discovery is simply unmatched.

Bar Lou Lou is all of these things and more, and it’s breathing a second life into Brisbane’s bar scene like no venue before. Inspired by a passion for upcycling and giving everyday items a second life, this new Fortitude Valley wine bar blends local pours, pan-Asian dining, and thrifting to create an evening you won’t forget.

What’s on the menu?

Head Chef Adnane Khattabi, a French pastry chef who came to Brisbane looking for a casual cook position, stands apart from the crowd for his talent and dedication. At Bar Lou Lou, he was swiftly promoted and now leads the creation of an inventive, one-of-a-kind menu.

Soulful, hearty, and delicious is how bar owner Lou describes the food – affordable dishes that are fun yet homey, pan-Asian dishes with a distinctly local touch.

Begin your night with an aromatic Harrison Wine Grenache Blanc alongside bahn mi crostinis or a decadent tuna tataki. Before long, you’ll be sipping a crisp, vibrant CRFT Menacia Rosé while digging into a rich Japanese curry pie.

The menu includes plenty of gluten-free and vegan options that are designed to impress – from indulgent street-style Thai loaded fries to a fresh yuzu and ginger glass noodle salad.

Vintage finds and second-hand wonders

For the whimsical girls who love to rummage through an op-shop, Bar Lou Lou doubles as a thrift store. What was once a storeroom has been transformed into a cute little space, adorned with vintage furniture, eclectic art, and a quirky aesthetic that is completed by a disco ball hanging from the ceiling.

These genuine finds aren’t just labelled “vintage” and marked up to ridiculous prices – items range from roughly $5 to $40 each.
