How To Celebrate The Lunar New Year
Year of the Ox – you're looking good!
With the Year of the Ox stampeding onto the calendar, Treasury Brisbane has all your celebrations sorted. Their dazzling Lunar New Year line-up includes two weeks of festivities with free live entertainment, auspicious decorations, tasty treats, and so much more.
The celebrations kick off on Thursday February 11 and run until Friday February 26, so start the year right with a colourful and energetic lion dance performance – it’s said the lion will bring prosperity and good luck and who doesn’t want a bit of that? As for dining, did someone say dumplings? Mei Wei Dumplings will be dishing out a $21 feast, including wok-fried beef with black bean sauce, sweet red bean soup, and a sticky peanut rice ball. Wash it all down with a glass of Talking Point chardonnay, shiraz cabernet, sparkling wine, soft drink, or an XXXX Dry beer. Is your mouth watering yet? It should be, because guests are expected to eat more than 800 dumplings per week across Treasury’s Lunar New Year!
For another authentic food fix, celebrity chef Luke Nguyen will also be in attendance. Bringing his Southeast Asian heritage to you, he’ll be crafting a special New Year version of his wildly popular Vietnamese Steamboat for Treasury Brisbane’s one and only, Fat Noodle, for the sweet price of $69. Needless to say, this experience will make for a fabulous pic on the ‘gram!
So, whether you love a bit of free entertainment or you’re a serious foodie, Treasury Brisbane has you covered. Live it up this Lunar New Year and begin the Year of the Ox more extravagantly than ever. Dumplings, anyone?
