One minute, Etienne was singing in front of her school assembly, and the next, she was belting songs in front of Australia on national television. Meet Etienne Steven, the 20-year-old Brisbane singer and songwriter who is forging her way in the world of entertainment.

From an early age, Etienne’s love of music was deep and resounding, with music echoing in every part of her life. “Improving my singing and performance skills was always my biggest priority growing up,” says Etienne, who always knew that her career would be music. Studying Jazz Voice at the Queensland Conservatorium, Etienne’s tertiary studies allowed her to “approach music in a more professional, mature, and knowledgeable manner,” giving her the independence and confidence to pursue a career in the industry.

But, it was being scouted for the 2023 season of The Voice that steered Etienne’s career in the direction of stardom. A lifelong dream come true, Etienne snatched the hearts of not only the audience but all four judges as the striking 20-year-old took the stage. Singing a soulful rendition of judge Jason Derulo’s ‘Savage Love’, Etienne’s talent and star power were palpable. Describing it as a fulfilling experience that removed her from her comfort zone, Etienne blew away people around the world with her audition, garnering over seven million views across YouTube and TikTok. From then on, it was clear Etienne was going places.

One of the 2010’s hottest pop singer-songwriters, Jason was an obvious choice for Etienne, who grew up listening to his hits. When asked what it was like working with Jason, Etienne says that despite being nervous, “he really helped push me to go for bigger and better performances…and supported me as a person and my creativity during the show.”

What’s next for this budding star? Etienne will be releasing the highly anticipated full cover of ‘Savage Love’ in early June, celebrating the song that kick started her career. Following that, Etienne will be releasing her first original single. “I’m very eager for people to hear my songwriting which I’ve been working really hard on,” says Etienne.
