We Took Over QPAC’s Glasshouse Theatre For A Morning Of Stillness & Connection

win the morning, win the day

By Victoria Lewis | 31st July 2026

Honestly, every Saturday morning should start like this.

Last weekend, style took over QPAC‘s brand-new Glasshouse Theatre for an intimate breathwork session hosted by The Breath Haus Burleigh. Designed to offer a moment of pause from the noise of everyday life, the event was a powerful reminder that sometimes the most productive thing you can do is simply breathe.

Brought to life by KAILO Nutrition, MoveActive, and HACH SKIN, and with the Brisbane River framed by the architectural prowess of the Glasshouse, it was a truly transformative way to start the weekend. Come as you are, and come on the journey with us.

The art of breathwork

Different from the mini meditation you might do at the end of your Pilates class (which we still love, by the way), this kind of breathwork practice can get kind of intense.

During a 60-minute session, everyone’s experience is different, and our instructor Sharleen was the first to tell us this. Here, as the winter sun kissed our ankles through the sculptural windows of the Glasshouse, there was no pressure, nowhere else for our minds to be, and no “right” way for the session to play out.

Some people slept, some people dreamed, some people felt their minds wander, some even hallucinated. So different was each journey that even our Monday morning style debrief consisted of the team going around the table detailing their vastly different experiences (shoutout to Kelly who ended up transporting her mind to Italy in the sunshine). The class moved through elongated breaths, box breathing, and what Sharleen coined “spicy breathing”, a series of short, sharp sequences that really got the blood flowing.

No matter the individual experience, with Sharleen’s voice in our ears and our MoveActive yoga mats under our backs, a collective wave of calm fell over the group.

Feeling refreshed and refuelled

Post breath-sesh refreshments from KAILO Nutrition, fresh fruit, and finger pastries; we were sent on our merry way with an unexpected spring in our step, having spent the morning in a moment dedicated to rest.

We walked away feeling lighter, calmer, and ultimately more alive, and that, my friends, is a Saturday morning well spent.
