New Farm Park
Fun fact, New Farm Park is the only outdoor area in Brisbane where you can drink wherever you like! Relax in the beautifully shaded surrounds of New Farm Park, on a picnic rug with a cold bevvie in hand. Whether you are keen on looking out over the river, enjoying the sea of green around you or sitting near the rose garden, New Farm is a pretty special spot to do all!
Celebration Lawn | Roma Street Parklands
Within one of Brisbane’s most popular inner-city parks, you’ll find the Celebration Lawn (the name says it all). Made up of a magnificent lawn, a cascading waterfall, living-wall and several artwork installations, it’s a tranquil spot to relax. Their range of facilities means that people of all can enjoy the retreat, with pretty pathways, disabled parking, BBQ and seating areas, coach parking and more. Plus, it is an easy spot to travel to with many parking spaces and public transport access throughout. Stretch out on the lawn’s lush, green grass, with your picnic rug, drinks and picnic spread among the hidden oasis of beauty and exploration that is the Celebration Lawn. If you are wanting something a little bit more romantic, head to the lawn at sundown as the waterfall lights up with a range of colours, creating a wonderful backdrop to your evening picnic.
Lake Precinct | Roma Street Parklands
Across the 16 hectares of spectacular horticultural displays of subtropical plants and leafy surrounds, you will also find the Lake Precinct – because one alcohol-friendly spot within Roma Street Parklands isn’t enough! Combine eating and drinking with a fabulous view and boom you have the perfect day set in place. The Lake Precinct is the Park’s second spot that allows a bev or two with food. Sit by the lake, watch the ducks swim and place a cracker and cheese in one hand and a glass of your favourite in another.
The Green | South Bank Parklands
It’s no secret that South Bank Parklands is a primo spot for feasting, knocking back a few icy drinks and simply enjoying our City’s beautiful weather. On the Green at South Bank Parklands is where you will find a marvellous riverside spot, with city views and some pretty greenery to lounge on. It’s the perfect spot for a Sunday session as it is Brisbane’s most spectacular riverfront destination, River Quay Green. Set against the backdrop of the sparkling city skyline, every Sunday you can enjoy live music performances and lawn games all within a lush setting. This weekly event showcases the soft and smooth tunes of some of Brisbane’s best musicians. It’s a great spot to relax after seeing a movie at Southbank Cinema, or after you’ve picked up a couple goodies in the Stanley Street Markets. You can even grab a fresh cheese and meats at the markets to take on your picnic as well. Perfect!
Picnic Island | South Bank Parklands
It’s the perfect family-friendly destination or place to chill with your mates. Within a secluded green space, this park features beautiful open grassy surrounds with luscious gardens and leafy, dense trees. Picnic Island’s most special feature, however, is its island forest with giant ficus, surrounding foliage, a pond filled with wildlife and free undercover barbeque areas. Indulge in some inner-city wildlife-spotting, laze on the grass or have a sausage sizzle at one of their barbeque areas.

Keep in mind both River Quay Green and Picnic Island are licensed between the hours of 10am – 8pm daily, excluding Australia Day, New Year’s Eve and Riverfire. Also, please note that to drink at Southbank Parklands, you must have food to accompany your drinks.
