Yippee, winter hibernation is almost over! After the Brisbane freeze had you memorising every nook and cranny in your humble abode, it’s time to kick down your front door and soak in the glorious spring weather, flourishing blooms, and good vibes in the air. Where can you find it all? Roma St Parkland!

This iconic inner-city oasis is giving you plenty of reasons to get outdoors this season, with free festivals, bustling markets, and a whole lot of live music. You’ll be buzzing around more than the bees with our pick of events and activities you need to check out before spring is up.

Guided Tours

It’s very easy to get lost in the sprawling Roma St Parkland (did we pass that tree before?), so what better way to experience it than with the people who know it best? Throughout spring, you can take part in a range of guided tours led by knowledgeable volunteers who will show you all the hidden gems the park has to offer. Of course, exploring the gardens is sure to work up an appetite, so eat your fill at The Garden Room Cafe! With a great range on offer to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters, the choice is all yours. Plus, the Bush Tucker High Tea experience is back on Saturday 17 September, so you can feast on native flavours and local goodness. To book, head here

The Sound Society

Follow the groovy sound of free live tunes to this sub-tropical oasis on 4 September! The Sound Society is back to have you soaking in a beautiful spring afternoon over a picnic and incredible local acts. BYO snacks or order a delicious hamper from The Garden Room Cafe so all you have to do is show up and enjoy. Psst, guarantee your golden child status and take Dad here for Father’s Day!

Blooms & Tunes

Can’t get enough of the spring music? Then you’re in luck, because Blooms & Tunes is also making its return on 10 and 11 September with four fabulous acts every day from 11.30am to 5pm on the lush Celebration Lawn. With food trucks on hand and a pop-up bar to keep you quenched, the free all-ages day out is sure to have the whole fam entertained.

MOSAIC Festival

Take a trip around the world at Roma St Parkland with the help of the Brisbane Festival. Multicultural Australia’s MOSAIC Festival will be a diverse party to savour on Sunday 18 September, with cultural cooking demonstrations, international drumming workshops, world music, and a cultural marketplace. Kicking off with a Welcome to Country at 10am, the free family-friendly event will also host kids activities and a global smorgasboard of flavours, no passport needed!

Plant Market

Twiddle your green thumb over to BrisStyle’s Plant Market on Saturday 24 September from 9am to 2pm! 20 stallholders will be taking up residence on the Celebration Lawn, slinging plants, pots, accessories, and homewares. Plus, you can really get your hands dirty with three interactive workshops: kokomodas, macrame pot holders, and Gumnut Flowers in Full Bloom with contemporary Indigenous artist Lauren Rogers.

Kids Collective

Get the upper hand on the October school holidays with Roma St Parkland’s’ free kid-friendly program! With no bookings required and no capacity, all kids are welcome to join from 9am to 1pm and keep busy with a range of fun workshops. Did someone say easiest school holidays ever?
