By Guest Styler | 20th July 2020

When it comes to our fashion, we Queenslanders are known for our board shorts and thongs above anything else, but as our (albeit short) winter rolls around, we’re ready to rug up like the best of them! Our European friends may laugh us out of the room when we’re feeling the chill at 17°C, but we’re not going to let them stop us busting out the knee-high boots, scarfs and of course, winter jackets! As such, we’re here to help you get familiar with the latest jacket trends for winter 2020. Whatever your style may be, we’ve got the crème da la crème of jacket finds, ready to elevate your winter wardrobe.

Crop It Off

It’s cool. It’s edgy. It’s the cream of the crop. Cropped jackets are going off this season! These babies are surging in popularity, not only for their cool-girl aesthetic, but they’re also fab for defining your waist and giving you a bangin’ shape. We love seeing this silhouette in grungy leathers and studded denim for the perfect street-style aesthetic. This check Camilla and Marc number is super chic with the two front pockets and high neckline, giving us serious motor vibes with a sophisticated edge. Love!

Think of this neutral beauty from Beginning Boutique, paired with matching trackies and hoodie, chunky dad sneaks and some gold chain to finish. Styled up or down, a puffer is a great option for winter daywear. We’re loving seeing the range of colours, length and textiles coming out this season. Why not make a statement with a velvet or corduroy puffer? You won’t regret it!

If you’re looking for that one investment coat to get your through all your winter outfits, this is the one. We’re loving the oversized collars or waterfall necklines we’re seeing this winter. We’re dying over this hot pink number from Witchery with its larger-than-life lapel, midi length, and thick belt. Side note: the hand-stitched wool blend feels divine!

Soft shackets are all over the shops this season and we’re getting serious trucker-chic vibes. We’re loving the checked prints, masculine aesthetic and shearling accents on these winter warmers. These jackets are perfect for your street-style, urban-feel outfits, super casj, but also super stylish. Think high-waisted mum jeans, combat boots, your fave band tee, a boujee shacket and some Tom Cruise aviators to boot. But, we can’t deny we’re loving the reimagining of this timeless piece. Brands are experimenting with the classic silhouette of the trench coat, whether it be a exaggerated A-line shape, oversized buttons or billowing balloon sleeves. We’re also loving the fun they’re having with fabric and colour, with our top fave being this neon splice number from ASOS! You can go bold by playing with colour and shape, or focus on the small details such as detailed cuffs or wide lapels to freshen up this winter essential.
