Here’s What The Style Team Is Shopping, Watching, And Reading This May

on the hit-list

By Victoria Lewis | 8th May 2026

If there’s one thing about the style team, it’s that we strongly believe in the words ‘sharing is caring’. As May charges in with its chilly mornings and hot coffees, so do the style teams’ shopping, reading, and watching recommendations, and we thought we really ought to share. As diverse as we are passionate about the media we consume, this month sees us viewing new Apple TV dramas, reading spunky political-fantasy hybrids, and binging insatiable reality TV, while our shopping carts are staying just as active.

So, without further ado, let’s see what’s on our shopping, watching, and reading lists this month:

Kiri Johnston, Editor + Creative Director

SHOPPING: I’m currently on the hunt for a new pair of sunglasses and these Chloé aviators are seriously next level. I tried them on recently and instantly loved them; I just haven’t quite pulled the trigger yet.

READING: I needed a little break from my usual spirituality books, so my partner handed me his copy of SuperFreakonomics, and I’ve been slowly making my way through it. It unpacks the logic behind all sorts of unexpected topics and has definitely had my brain ticking in ways I wouldn’t have otherwise considered.

WATCHING: My fiancée and I are also completely hooked on Your Friends & Neighbors right now. We binged the first season and are now impatiently waiting for new episodes every Friday. Jon Hamm somehow makes stealing from his wealthy friends’ homes look effortlessly convincing, and the twists are ridiculously addictive.

Natalie McGowan, Deputy Editor

SHOPPING: There’s a bit of a foodie theme going on here, but I’d love to start collecting more art, and I’m obsessed with how whimsical and playful Maggie Cowles’ prints are, inspired by the joy of a good meal. The best part is that you can commission her to create a special, personal piece, which would be perfect as a fun addition to your home or a thoughtful gift for a loved one.

READING: I stumbled upon this book at Avid Reader about a father in Kuching who wants his son to take over the family laksa business, but the son is busy in Hong Kong trying to make it as a chef. The connections were eerily similar to my own life – I have familial ties to Sarawak and Hong Kong, an immense love for laksa, and my family runs a generations-old noodle shop near Kuching – so I knew I had to pick it up. Thus far, it’s made for a comforting, familiar, and hunger-inducing read

WATCHING: Whoever said reality TV is trashy is wrong – I genuinely believe it’s a direct look into human behaviour and psychology (and obviously I love the drama!). I was finally convinced to watch Summer House after the recent Ciara Miller, Amanda Batula, and West Wilson scandal unfolded, and now I’m fully hooked. It’s fun, silly, scandalous, and has managed to fill a Vanderpump Rules-shaped hole in my heart – pretty much the perfect reality TV concoction.

Grace De Luna, Senior Graphic Designer

SHOPPING: I’m going to keep it short and sweet here – this just might be my Winter 2026 uniform.

READING: From one artist to another, this book is a glimpse of the creative relationship between two amazing creatives of the century.

WATCHING: Binged this show in one day, and it filled the hole that Parasite left in my heart many years ago. The opening credits for each episode is a designer’s fever dream.

SHOPPING: Far be it from me to resist the urge to purchase yet another set of Benni trousers. They have a fantastic fit and are fabulous for long legs. This layered pair really speak to the (large) part of my soul currently obsessed with ’90s minimalism.

READING: I’m currently trying out the whole audiobook thing for the first time, and I’m really a fan. Regardless of your political ties, Kamala Harris’ most recent book about the presidential election campaign is truly riveting – it’s like you yourself were in the room where it happened.

WATCHING: I’ve been craving something a little bit more lighthearted in the TV department recently, especially coming down from my MAFS obsession.ABC’s Dog Park really hits the spot – easy to watch, just funny enough, and features possibly the cutest dog of all time (seriously).

Valentina Trifunov, Senior Account Manager

SHOPPING: I’m currently in my Pilates era, so splurging on a pair of good-quality Pilates socks was a necessity. My last shop also included some much-needed L’Oréal lipstick, shampoo, and conditioner – the essentials.

READING: I’m loving Breath by James Nestor to tap into why breathing is so important for your wellbeing and how we are not breathing correctly, mind blown.

WATCHING: A subscription to Apple TV is a must. Just finished – Imperfect Women,  starring Kerry Washington and Elisabeth Moss. A thriller about 3 best friends, that has you literally screaming OMG at the end of every episode.

Caitlin Finucan, Junior Graphic Design + Content Creator

SHOPPING: I’m loving elevated basics that don’t break the bank, and tortoise shell goes with quite literally everything.

READING: A great high-fantasy that moves quickly and sucks you in immediately, with storylines drawn from real politics from mid-20th-century China.

WATCHING: Each season takes place over a singular 12- hour shift in the ER – highly recommend binging an entire season in one go to get your heart rate going!
