The head-to-toe neutral outfit is one we’ve seen skyrocket in popularity over the last few years, and 2021 is set to be no different. This trans-seasonal trend can be spotted everywhere from high-fashion runways to savvy street style looks and it’s no surprise why we love it so much. Neutrals offer a timeless feel to any outfit and you’ll find yourself wearing these versatile styles over and over again. However, it’s easy to refer back to the same old combos when donning your neutrals, so Annabel is giving us her top tips on how to keep it funky fresh this season.
“Neutrals will always be a safe and chic choice, however it is necessary to incorporate textures and varying tones to keep things interesting. Sequins, stripes, raffia, linen, boucle, and cashmere are great options when trying to lift your neutral-on-neutral #ootd,” says the style maven. And we couldn’t agree more! Winter is the perfect time to experiment with all the amazing tactile pieces hitting the stores, such as these sneakers from Peter Sheppard.
The key with an all-neutral look is to know what hues work best for you. Warmer skin tones look amazing in soft colours such as bone or oatmeal, whereas lighter skin tones should opt for deeper tones such as tan, or even a rich chocolate (one of the season’s hottest colours!).
Accessories are also vital when it comes to spicing up your neutrals. Keep your staples trendy with different shape bags and eye-catching shoes that instantly update a look. This vintage Tom Ford handbag from Designer Archives is the perfect example! Nothing pairs better with neutrals than some glistening gold jewels in our opinion, and you could even pop on a bold red lip – the perfect polishing touch as Annabel says.
