Now, over to Hetty…

Hetty, Senior Stylist:

London Fashion Week. The fashion week where more is more is more. From 16 February to 20 February 2024, London’s bustling streets became the runway for designers to showcase their visions for the upcoming winter ’24 collections, captivating audiences with their distinct creative styles and standout catwalks. London fashion tends to embrace quintessential Britishness, an underlying contrast of proper and rocker – something we saw this season especially.

Revisiting Classics The Burberry winter ’24 show was exactly that: a big reinvention of classics featuring an array of outdoor and evening wear. In a big tent in the iconic Victoria Park, the audience experienced first-hand Burberry’s considered balance between the outdoors and luxury. As the lights dimmed and the models walked out to Amy Winehouse, you were immediately transported to London’s early 2000s: fashion stripped back to a simpler time, focusing on heritage outerwear, clashing textures, and unexpected pairings.

Back Detailing Adrianne Weber, a new designer on the schedule, showed in a new space in Marylebone: an empty concrete venue with big windows, clean and lit so that the focus of the show was immediately on the clothing and craftsmanship. The monogram palette and minimal styles made the audience notice the attention to detail that was considered during the design process, especially the back detailing that was present throughout the collection. Open backs, pieces with feathers on the back, and transparent backs were so eye-catching going down the catwalk.

Diversity and inclusivity continued to be key themes throughout the week, with designers celebrating a range of body types, ethnicities, and identities on the runway. In terms of trends, there were silhouettes that made bold statements, with sparkly and transparent dresses, furry detailing, vibrant pops of patterns, and lots of red injected into the season’s palette.

Overall, London Fashion Week Winter ’24 was a celebration of creativity, sustainability, and inclusivity. As the fashion industry continues to evolve, London remains at the forefront of innovation, pushing creative boundaries and challenging conventions with each new season.
