SWOP and Lee Mathews Launch Resale Partnership To Give Designer Fashion A Longer Life

The future of fashion is circular.

By Kiri Johnston | 30th July 2026

For more than 25 years, Australian fashion label Lee Mathews has championed timeless design over fleeting trends. Now, the Sydney-based brand is taking the next step in its sustainability journey, partnering with fashion resale pioneer SWOP to make it easier for customers to buy, sell and extend the life of their wardrobes. The collaboration officially launched on 30 July, with an intimate celebration held the evening prior at SWOP’s Fortitude Valley boutique. Guests gathered over seasonal bites from August West End and wines by Fountainhead Winehouse to mark a partnership built on quality craftsmanship, longevity and a shared belief that great clothing deserves to be worn for years, not seasons. At the heart of the initiative is a simple idea: well-made garments shouldn’t end their story with their first owner. Through the new resale program, customers can submit eligible Lee Mathews pieces to SWOP for assessment and authentication before they’re offered for resale. Those whose garments are accepted can choose from a range of rewards, including Lee Mathews store credit, creating an easy pathway for pre-loved pieces to find a new home. It’s a natural evolution for both brands.Since launching in 1999, Lee Mathews has built its reputation on creating understated, thoughtfully designed clothing intended to become part of everyday life. Independently led, the Australian label continues to champion natural materials, enduring craftsmanship and timeless style. SWOP has been at the forefront of Australia’s resale movement since 2013. With stores across Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, alongside its online platform, the business has helped reshape perceptions around second-hand fashion by curating designer, vintage and contemporary pieces that deserve a second chapter. As conversations around conscious consumption continue to grow, partnerships like this demonstrate how luxury fashion and circularity can work hand in hand. Instead of encouraging constant newness, Lee Mathews and SWOP are investing in the longevity of great design, proving that some of the best pieces in your wardrobe may already exist. The Lee Mathews resale program is now live online through SWOP and across SWOP stores nationally.
