Kendrick Lamar’s Denim Display Just Put Bootcut Jeans Back On Our Radars

Kendrick Lamar knows how to make a statement – both through his music and his style. With 126 million people tuning in for the Super Bowl, his halftime performance had the world talking. While many focused on the fact that he had millions singing along to a diss track, others couldn’t help but notice his choice of denim.

Rather than opting for the expected baggy, low-rise jeans that dominate streetwear, Kendrick switched things up with a fitted bootcut style – designed by none other than Hedi Slimane, one of fashion’s most influential names and the former creative director of Celine, who parted ways with the iconic fashion house in October 2024.

Who knew a pair of jeans could cause such a stir?

If this tells us anything about fashion, it’s that the boho revival is in full swing – and it’s not just influencing women’s wardrobes. Menswear is embracing the trend, and Kendrick’s choice only solidifies its mainstream appeal.

Flared jeans have been making quiet waves in men’s fashion for months. Pharrell Williams – style icon, music powerhouse, and now creative director of menswear at Louis Vuitton – has frequently incorporated the silhouette into his wardrobe. And with designers like Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, and Rick Owens showcasing their take on flares and bootcut jeans, the movement is undeniable.

At this point, it’s time to ditch the word “revival” and call it what it is: new-age boho. And fortunately, the effortlessly cool, ultra-flattering styles of the ‘70s are more than welcome in today’s fashion landscape.

If a return to ‘70s-inspired menswear means bell bottoms and unbuttoned shirts, consider us on board.

Here are some of our favourite flared and bootleg jeans right now.
