Fight me on this: Tangled is one of the most underrated Disney movies in the last 15 years, and it’s purely because of the gobsmacking animation in *that* lantern scene. While we can’t all visit the Kingdom of Corona (that’s the name, I double checked), Brisbane is getting its very own larger-than-life lantern parade next Friday night for the best reason!
In celebration of the multicultural communities that call the Sunshine State home, the 14th annual LUMINOUS Lantern Parade is lighting up South Brisbane on June 4 to welcome new Queenslanders and refugees. Igniting the state’s rich cultural diversity, the free parade begins its march at 6pm and ends at South Bank Parklands, where a World Music Concert will get the city grooving from 7pm. Featuring a Welcome to Country by Nunukul Yuggera, diverse dance crews, big bands, and more, you literally can’t miss it.
LUMINOUS is part of an immersive program of events kicking off across Queensland in honour of Queensland Day on June 6. Obviously, candles wouldn’t cut it to celebrate the state’s birthday – we’re lighting up the night!
