We sat down with Apolline from Balm Balm Co to find out more about who they are, what they do, and why they do it…
Tell us a little bit about Balm Balm Co. Where are you based?
Balm Balm Co manufactures and sells a 100% natural skincare and health care range, driven by a passion for creating effective, results-oriented products. Based on the Sunshine Coast, our location has significantly influenced the products we offer. With the beach being a central part of our lifestyle, I’m always inspired to develop products that are not only natural but also essential for everyday use in this environment.
What inspired you to start a beauty business?
Balm Balm Co was born out of a personal passion to create wholesome, natural, and toxic-free products. As a stay-at-home mum, I wanted products that were not only safe for my entire family, but also delivered real, effective results. My goal was to provide a solution that combined purity and performance, giving families peace of mind without compromising on quality.
What is the first thing that someone should buy from you?
I believe our original product, the lip balm, is an absolute essential for everyone. People often underestimate the impact a lip balm can have when it works with your body’s natural oils rather than against them. Like all of our products, our lip balms are made with the highest quality ingredients and contain no petrochemicals. Plus, they’re multi-purpose, which makes them incredibly versatile and convenient! I personally haven’t gone a single day in 5 years without mine!
What sets Balm Balm Co apart from other beauty brands?
We’ve been very intentional about slowly building our range because we place immense value on delivering both quality and results, without compromising on natural ingredients. Perfecting the formula often involves a lot of back-and-forth with our lab partner, but it’s crucial for us to get it right. Balm Balm Co isn’t about quickly churning out products; it’s about crafting one product at a time that we’re 100% proud to call our own and that our customers will love. This dedication has also allowed us to build strong partnerships with renowned businesses like Sofitel Noosa, WholeLife Pharmacy & Healthfoods, and Amcal, as well as numerous other small businesses both domestically and internationally. These collaborations are a testament to the quality we uphold, and I’m proud to run a business that strives for excellence across all of our products and services.
What does your ideal self-care night look like?
An ideal self-care night for me is pouring a relaxing bath, adding one of our luxurious soaks, and just letting my body absorb all the goodness it craves. I love pairing that with a good book, allowing myself to fully unwind and recharge.
Your latest release seems like the perfect piece for summer… tell us more about the benefits!
I’m so glad you asked about this—I’m incredibly proud of this product and its effectiveness! I recently travelled to Europe during their summer, and I usually struggle with dry skin. However, the Aloe Body was a real skin saver. Each ingredient was carefully selected for its skin benefits, resulting in a formula rich in long-chain fatty acids that create a protective barrier to lock in moisture and keep the skin hydrated longer. The antioxidants, including vitamins A, C, and B, enhance skin elasticity and protect against environmental damage. Its anti-inflammatory properties help soothe irritated or dry skin, making it ideal for conditions like eczema and psoriasis. Plus, it has pH-balancing properties for healthier skin and absorbs easily without leaving a greasy residue which was very important to me. I can’t not mention how incredible it smells! I couldn’t believe we were able to achieve this without the use of any synthetics, but I am so happy we did!
Is there anything exciting in the works that we should get keen for?
I’m always striving to create products that are essential to any self-care routine, and a deodorant has been on my list for quite some time. Stay tuned—I’m excited to get to work on this!
