Gather The Girls, This Is Your Local Guide To Noosa And Beyond

Consider this your girls’ getaway itinerary

By Astrid Taemets | 23rd November 2021

We all love a little getaway to break up the week with some fun, and with our gorgeously warm Queensland summer weather turning it on, there’s no time like the present to fire up the WhatsApp group and gather your besties together for a midweek city escape.

Just a short 1hour 50min drive up the Bruce Highway is every Brissy girl’s go-to paradise, where the palm trees sway, the sea sparkles, and the cocktails flow: Noosa. A haven for locals and interstate holiday-goers alike, the Sunshine Coast attracts romantic couples, families, and friends all looking to unwind with ease in style.

From fine dining spots to trendy cocktail bars, sweet shopping strips, and more, this charming seaside town has got it all. But newsflash: there’s so much more to the Sunshine Coast than just Hastings Street.

From the laidback riverside suburb of Noosaville to Sunshine Beach, Peregian Beach and the surrounding hinterlands, you and your besties will have a ball uncovering the hidden gems of the Sunshine Coast. Who’s in charge of the itinerary?

Noosa Heads and Hastings Street

A wonderful mix of beachside luxury and laidback holiday vibes, Hastings Street is the heart and soul of Noosa Heads. For a girls’ getaway packed with fun and frivolity, staying in one of Hastings Streets many resorts puts you right in the middle of the action, with some of the area’s best cafes, restaurants, bars, and boutiques at your doorstep. From coffee carts at sunshine to Champagne brunches at Miss Moneypenny’s and long lunches at Bistro C, this glittering beachside strip has it all! Pick up some luxury linen resort pieces at Palm Noosa before finishing the day with sunset cocktails at Sails and a fairy-lit stroll along the boardwalk. Walk out the door of your accommodation and take a dip at the lagoon-like Main Beach, or hit the pavement for an invigorating walk to the Noosa National Park.

Noosa Junction

Explore the wonderful Noosa Junction, where bars, local cafes, live music, fashion and homewares boutiques, and more come to life. You find this buzzing little village just a short walk over Noosa Hill from Hastings Street, and it’s here you’ll want to come back to again, and again! This exciting entertainment hub is home to bustling laneways, hole-in-the-wall bars like Theo’s Social Club, and fabulous pavement eats such as woodfired pizzas at Somedays Pizza, and Asian street food and cocktail joints Light Years and Mr Drifter. A girls’ weekend away isn’t complete without splashing some cash on beautiful new homewares, and Clo Studios has a curated edit of furniture pieces, fine art, rugs, and plenty more to tickle your fancy.

Noosaville

Located around the sparkling waters of the Noosa River, this holiday spot beckons you to soak up its laidback lifestyle. Jump onboard the recently renovated Catalina Noosa and make your way along the waterfront (wine in hand), or catch a ferry to Noosa Boathouse for a long lunch, then stroll on over to Whisky Boy for some sundowners and great modern Australian bites. You’ll find plenty of great stays that’ll tick all the boxes you and your girls need to make it a truly enjoyable, and memorable stay.

And just when you thought you’d seen and done it all, head a little inland to the industrial estate and get amongst all the local action. The newly opened Seabourne gin distillery is a great place to sample some local tipple (and buy a bottle to take home), as well as Heads of Noosa and Boiling Pot Brewing Co.  You’ll also discover Sunshine Beaches former spice house Sum Yung Guys in its new home here in Noosaville.

Sunshine Beach

This chilled, laidback beachfront village is just a hop, skip, and a jump from the action of Noosa Heads, making it the perfect location for a relaxing beach getaway. Just a quick Google search and you’ll find plenty of great holiday homes that sleep bigger groups to choose from, most of which are within walking distance to a range of restaurants, cafes, and bars found in the main hub on Duke Street.

Set the alarm and get the team up early for a stunning coastal walk around the Noosa National Park headland, where you’ll spot surfers catching waves at local surfs spots such as Tea Tree Bay, as well as dolphins, turtles, and other sea life. With the walk just over 10km, you and the crew will work up an appetite for breakfast. Stop in and refuel at FOMO, or grab a takeaway from The Deck before exploring the open beach just below. For an arvo drink with a view, you and the girls can’t miss the opportunity to check out the Sunshine Beach Surf Club.

Peregian Beach

Nestled between Noosa and Coolum, this little beach village is big on charm, and sought after by those seeking a relaxing break by the ocean without the hefty price tag of its southern counterparts. Make the most of your stay by booking a self-contained beachfront house located in the dunes at Retreat Beach Houses, then take a short stroll over to the Peregian Beach Hotel for an arvo cocktail and meal bursting with fresh, local produce and flavour. There’s plenty of other bites to sample at the hip, healthy cafes, coffee haunts, and bakeries that form this village, where locals and visitors alike enjoy the home-grown and global tastes on offer.

But it’s not just the good food that makes Peregian such an inviting place to stay – those who love a shop will find Peregian Square full of clothing boutiques, surf shops, homewares, design, and furniture stores, as well as day spas to truly unwind in after a full itinerary.

Noosa Country

Discover the natural beauty of the Noosa hinterland, where arts, crafts, local produce, and more come to life just outside of the bustling streets of Noosa Heads. Book the group in for a luxury farm stay at Mayan Farm Luxe Villas in Kin Kin where you can take in the breathtaking views while enjoying a bottle of wine and catering from local store Black Ant Gourmet. After a little relax and unwind, book in a date with Pomona Distilling Co and taste their award-winning artisan spirits. From Eumundi, Cooroy, Pomona, Kin Kin, and Cooran, you’ll marvel at the beauty of the green valleys dotted with cafes, galleries, farm gates, historic pubs, and vintage stores.

Noosa and beyond has got it going on! From farm stays to distilleries and boutique fashion finds, there’s something to get everyone in the group chat excited. Check out their mid-week stay deals here.
