A New Luxury Hotel Precinct Is Coming To Mermaid Beach & It Looks Pretty Major

this is living

By Victoria Lewis | 30th October 2026

The words “coastal charm” are about to take on a whole new meaning, with the official announcement that Mermaid Beach is getting a brand-new luxury hotel precinct (and construction is already underway).

The latest project from the Dankav development group, Lennons Hotel promises to be the new gold standard for luxury accommodation on the coast, offering a relaxed but elevated setting that will appeal to locals and visitors alike.

And in this age of modern luxury, of course the development isn’t just a hotel. Lennons will combine a nostalgic boutique stay with a mixed-use precinct brimming with cafés, bars, retail, and wellness offerings, making it the complete package for a coastal destination.

So, what do we know so far?

Stay, dine, unwind

Positioned just metres from the shore, Lennons will take over a 4,095 sqm plot, offering a mixed-use destination that embodies both the height of luxury and the region’s coastal informality. At street level, expect a network of shared open-air spaces, landscaped laneways, cafés, restaurants, bars, and retail spaces that will create a lively buzz from dawn till dusk.

Overnight guests at the hotel can also expect the height of luxury, complete with thoughtfully designed guest rooms, resort-style amenities, and spaces made for switching off. Giving the familiar feeling of childhood beach holidays a new lease on life, the idea of keeping the precinct feeling “distinctly Gold Coast” is front of mind for the developers.

Dankav director Daniel Veitch says, “Lennons represents an exciting new chapter for both Dankav and Mermaid Beach. Our vision has always been to create more than just a development. We wanted to establish a destination that brings people together and celebrates everything that makes the Gold Coast such a special place to live and visit.”

“We’ve taken inspiration from the Gold Coast’s rich holiday history while creating something that looks confidently towards the future.”

The new classic

And on the design front, Lennons is said to be inspired by the nostalgia of the 1960s Gold Coast motel, with little hints of LA. The architecture will be a collaboration between some of the top names in design. None other than J.AR Office will lead the design of the podium and laneways, while BDA Architecture will take on the residential design and Urbis will shape the landscaping.

Designed to become a local social hotspot, the project will centre on connected spaces, complemented by lush subtropical planting and a warm, considered material palette that feels nostalgic yet completely of the moment.

Taking its name from the original Lennons Hotel, which played a big role in Queensland’s hospitality history, the new development is about a return to the best parts of the Gold Coast – days in the sun, afternoons spent around the pool, and that summer holiday feeling that never fades.

“Lennons is all about bringing a little of that familiar coastal charm into a new era. A place for locals, visitors and everyone in between,” says Daniel on the inspiration behind the project.

Live in the heart of it all

Above the precinct, The Alfred Residences will offer 62 private one-, two-, and three-bedroom residences, with access to exclusive residential amenities and a convenient lifestyle shaped by everything happening below.

Informed by history but looking through a contemporary lens, Lennons is set to be the best of both worlds, offering a destination that feels authentic to the community.

“We’re incredibly proud to introduce Lennons and look forward to seeing it become a much-loved part of Mermaid Beach for generations to come,” adds Daniel.

Lennons is slated to open in early 2028, so don’t start packing your suitcases just yet. But until then, we’ll be right here with all the latest updates. BRB, we’re dreaming of summer holidays by the beach.
