Why get a showbag when you can get brunch?

By Guest Styler | 12th August 2019

Escape the Ekka rush on a rare Wednesday off with some of the best eats this city has to offer. All open over the public holiday, nothing is standing in the way of you, your hot cup of joe, and a scrumptious artisanal brunch. Here are some of our favourite spots to escape the madness.

Artie & Mai | Albion

Housed in the quaint heritage-listed Albion Terrace, Artie & Mai serves all day brekkie, café lunches and craft beer amongst the exposed bricks, hanging plants and golden ambience. Open this Ekka holiday, Artie & Mai is making sure nothing stands between you and your brunch.

Don’t forget to bring your furry friends too! The Boundary is dog-friendly! Beat the crowds at the Ekka and instead, unwind with pub classics and refreshing brews.

Gerard’s Bistro | Fortitude Valley

Gramps Café | Red Hill

Offering simplistic suburban brunch-time eats, Gramps Café puts the yum in food and kick in coffee (literally and figuratively). Marrying comfort with quality, snack on house-baked goods, indulge in sprawling menu eats, and sip a coffee or two on your hump day holiday. Serving the goods between 7:30 and 12:30.

Mrs Brown’s | Newstead

Mrs Brown’s is the name, high quality casual dining is the game. Enjoy your day off with a trip around the world. With a menu that offers everything from Asian and Middle Eastern eats to Greek and Italian bites, you’ll be nursing your own Ekka day food baby. Open between 11am and 11pm.

Nodo Donuts | Multiple Locations

Brisbane’s favourite gluten free one-stop donut shop is open this Ekka Public Holiday and ready to welcome you into their donut-kneading den. Open between 8am and 2pm, indulge in the expansive menu alongside their new line of boozy cocktails, boutique beers and ciders. Donuts on a day off? Yes please!
