Nothing makes you feel more cultured than strolling through an art gallery, takeaway coffee cup in hand, gazing thoughtfully at incredible art hanging on its walls.
Lucky for you artsy creatures, one of Brisbane’s trendiest art galleries, Mitchell Fine Art is rolling out a new must-see exhibition that you simply can’t miss. From 15 to 31 August, Mitchell Fine Art will host Sydney artist Susie Choi in her second solo exhibition of ceramic and multimedia artworks, ‘Searching Chords’.
Tucked away in the bustling streets of Fortitude Valley, Mitchell Fine Art is an Aboriginal and contemporary art gallery that regularly showcases fantastic exhibitions and artist events. With a philosophy of ‘art is for everyone’, the doors are wide open to all! No stuffiness here, thank you very much!
Susie Choi’s creations, primarily in ceramics, sculpture, and installation, dive deep into themes of identity, exploring the challenges of otherness and intersectionality in Australia.
What fuels Susie’s inspiration? Her childhood, toys and playgrounds, South Korean material culture, and slices of Australian pop culture—all of which you’ll see in her spontaneous and wonderfully imperfect works on display.
Awarded the University of Southern Queensland Emerging Artist Prize in April, Susie Choi is definitely one to watch on the art scene.
Want to meet the face behind the incredible art? Susie Choi will be in attendance at the Exhibition Opening Event on Saturday 17 August from 2pm. Entry is free so swing by to hear from the genius herself, and mingle with the artsy folk of Brisbane. So, whether you’re an art nut or simply have a plan-free weekend, pop into Mitchell Fine Art for this exciting showcase this month.
