
Crack A Smile, Brisbane Comedy Festival Is Back And Here’s What You Need To Know

By Dinushka Gunasekara | 27th March 2023Clear the floor because we’re about to ROFL with the return of Brisbane’s most hilarious five-week fest! That’s right, folks, Brisbane Comedy Festival is back and the laughs are set to be bigger, better, and belly good.
From 28 April to 28 May, your favourite comedians from near and far will be flocking to our humble city, with more than 350 gigs by over 110 comedians on the cards. We’re talking comedy master Danny Bhoy, Irish comedy colossus Micky Bartlett, Malaysian mischief-maker Jason Leong, Glasgow’s funniest millennial Larry Dean, award-winning English stand-up Alfie Brown, British TV icon Ed Gamble, and BBC regular Sara Pascoe, just to name a few.
From our very own shores, you can expect the likes of Ross Noble, The Umbilical Brothers, Akmal, Rhys Nicholson, Wil Anderson Peter Helliar, Tommy Little, Rove McManus, Anne Admonds, Dave Hughes, Dilruk Jayasinha, Geraldine Hickey, and many more to take the comedy festival stage, as well as a number of theatre and music comedy experiences to complement the stand up specials. Needless to say, there’s something to tickle every funny bone here!
Brisbane Powerhouse will once again serve as the home of Brisbane Comedy Festival, with six stages ranging from intimate chuckles to epic chortles, including the 690-seat Powerhouse Theatre, the Underground Theatre, The Studio, Rooftop Terrace, Park Mezzanine, and Graffiti Room. Brisbane Powerhouse’s dazzling new alfresco riverside venue, the Pleasuredome, will also be joining the venue line-up, offering a festival-first luxe outdoor comedy club for an array of special events.
