Winter Wonderland: How To Spend A Winter WKND In BNE City

See below your itinerary

Warm weather is better spent by the sea, but when the temps get lower, nothing is more enjoyable than whiling away a weekend in the city. From the beauty of the heritage buildings framing the skyline, to the luxury stores, hole-in-the-wall wine bars, decadent restaurants, and of course – the five-star accommodation, Brisbane City is a wondrous place any day of the week, but especially on weekends, for that’s when the town truly shines.

So, take a break, check into a hotel, and live it up in Brissy – it’s good to be home!

EAT (AND DRINK)

Of all the wonderful things to enjoy about the city, the dining scene takes the cake as cosy bars and five-star foodie joints occupy the most surprising of corners. Brave the cool and hit the town with rosy cheeks – the juice is worth the squeeze! For a taste of Brooklyn meets Barcelona, Alba is your fix, with delicious bites, cocktails, and modern wine dished out to patrons in an ambient hole-in-the-wall joint on Burnett Lane. Just next door in the laneway is Death & Taxes, slinging whisky, wine, and bites behind a set of large double wooden doors, keeping it Brissy’s best kept secret. Taking inspiration from the underground bars of London and Paris, Death & Taxes invite you to get lost in a world of dim mood lighting and after hours conversations. Located in the city’s high end fashion district, Dr. Gimlette, is the ideal place to take a break after a long day hitting the stores. The nine-metre long marble bar, luxury finishings, Italian leather booths, hardwood floors and martini carts set the scene for a decadent afternoon with a drink.

STAY

Leave the chores behind for another day and let yourself truly unwind with a cheeky check-in to one of Brisbane City’s most exquisite hotels. Robes and room service are a match made in heaven, and the Hyatt Regency is the undisputed queen of luxe living. Set in the business district within walking distance to shops, bars, and restaurants, this five-star stay will have you primped and pampered (and begging for a late check out!), while the Sofitel offers a level of service and sophistication you won’t find elsewhere. Craving more? The Westin’s city views and impeccable design are just the tip of the cherry, with complimentary breakfast, evening drinks, and canapes setting you up for a fuss-free escape, but the Adina’s swanky rooms, amenities, and close proximity to the action might be just up your alley after maxing your step count around town.

PLAY

Between check in and check out, there’s plenty of time to kill – lucky there’s so much happening in the city! Stay snug with a bowl of noodles from the Brisbane Night Noodle Markets, who are churning out bao after bao for 12 nights in June, or après ski over to Customs House for French Champagne at the Veuve Clicquot In The Snow pop-up, who’ll be keeping your igloo warm for you with faux-fur blankets and heaters. Those with an eye for rubies, sapphires, diamonds, and more will treasure a visit to Museum of Brisbane to view Margot McKinney’s collection of rare and precious gems at the World of Wonder exhibit, that perhaps may spark inspiration to shop for your own frosting at Tiffany & Co. in Queens Plaza or Christie Nicolaides’ stunning boutique store. For girls who love luxury pieces, pick up a bargain at Designer Archives, who stock a range of preloved handbags, jewellery, and clothing from luxury brands such as Dior, Cartier, and Chanel at discounted prices.

Ready to make the most of your winter weekends with Brisbane City? Rug up, and let’s have some fun!
