A Local’s Guide On Where To Eat, Shop, Play, And Live In Broadbeach

No tourist traps here

Nestled right in the heart of the Gold Coast with stunning golden-sand beaches, and sparkling azure water on its doorstep, Broadbeach is the jewel in the coastal city’s crown. And the newest addition to the neighbourhood is only adding to the allure.

Perched on Albert Street, in the centre of Broadbeach’s vibing foodie precinct is the uber luxe, multi-million dollar Victoria & Albert Broadbeach. Featuring achingly cool apartments, penthouses and skyhomes, plus a slew of epic amenities, its arrival is the perfect time to curate the ultimate local’s guide on where to eat, shop, play and live in this amazing part of the Gold Coast.

Clear your schedule, your social diary is about to fill up.

It’s Time To Feast

First things first, Broadbeach is a foodie’s nirvana. From laneway style coffee joints like No Name Lane where you can pick up a brew that rivals Melbourne to innovative brunch spots like Elk Espresso (absolutely opt for the bottomless brunch), you’re spoiled for choice so come hungry. After you’ve got your caffeine fix sorted, set your sights on Maggie Choo. Featuring neon soaked walls and a canopy of cherry blossom trees, you’ll be transported straight to Asia. Inspired by hawker stalls and street food, here you’ll find a menu packed full of flavour bombs like sweet and sour lamb ribs, cheeseburger spring rolls and drunken dumplings. Just around the corner, you can continue the culinary adventure at Miss Moneypennys. With a coastal colour palette and all day dining, don’t be surprised if you end up lingering for longer at this Mediterranean inspired spot. If you’re after an excellent pizza, Gemelli, a cosy Italian trattoria is calling your name, while lovers of melt-in-your-mouth steak will want to make their way to Gold Coast institution Moo Moo, The Wine Bar and Grill. Plus, V&A will be elevating the already drool-worthy offering with high-restaurants within the building.

Say Cheers

Now you’ve feasted your way around Broadbeach, it’s time for a night cap. Fortunately the neighbourhood has a watering hole to suit whatever libation you’re craving. Kick it off with a visit to the Loose Moose. As the name suggests, here it’s all about letting the good times roll with 25 beers and 160 whiskeys from around the globe on offer. Next door, step back in time to the 1920s at The Roosevelt Lounge. Sink into plush velvet booths at this glamorous speakeasy, be serenaded by a suited man playing the sax and sip a martini from their extensive cocktail menu. Just around the corner and hidden down a laneway you’ll find Fig + Frankies. With exposed brick walls, blonde timber and white concrete arches, this place is oh so cool – their specialty cocktail list and selection of natural wines is equally so. Our advice? Order the Number Fourteen – a tasty mix of Ketel One grapefruit, rose vodka, salted watermelon and rosé. Venture across the Gold Coast Highway into The Darling and proceed straight to Nineteen at The Star. Up here it’s all about sophistication and sweeping views of the hinterland to the coast. Arrive at sunset to see the city skyline sparkle with a glass of champagne in hand. And to finish your night off, check out Veladora. Behind the hidden entrance (look behind the palm tree next to the Harvest Buffet at The Star), you’ll find cocktails, Mexican beers and Latin-inspired beats at this mezcal-inspired speakeasy.

Shop ‘Til You Drop

Broadbeach is home to the Gold Coast’s biggest and best shopping destination – Pacific Fair. Boasting over 400 stores, peruse the racks of boutiques like Aje, Camilla, Incu, lululemon and Gucci. There’s also a Mecca and Sephora to stock up on all your beauty must-haves. Back in the centre of Broadbeach set your sights on The Oasis Shopping Centre, home to high street stores like Cotton On and independent boutiques. And just a short stroll down the road, make sure you visit Element by Talia Munro for the best Aussie and international designer pieces. Or, if you’re lucky to call V&A home, your shopping spree awaits on the ground floor, which will play host to high quality retail offerings.

Let’s Play

Clear your social calendars because there’s a lot to see and do in Broadbeach. First, head to Oracle Boulevard for a glow up at Light Years Skin Studio. Give your skin some lovin’ with their LED light therapy, hydrafacial or dermaplaning. Over at Endota Spa you can soothe your weary muscles with one of their dreamy massages – the calming stones treatment is out of this world. If more relaxation is what you’re after, you can put your feet up at Event Cinemas Gold Class at Pacific Fair – you deserve it.

When the sun goes down book yourself a seat at the Gold Coast’s premier spiegel club, The Pink Flamingo. Recline in style in the pink velvet and gold art deco theatre while enjoying a mix of cabaret, burlesque, comedy, jaw-dropping acrobatics and drag. No matter the time of day there is always something to see and do over at The Star Casino. Packed with gaming, sports bars, award-winning restaurants, and a huge theatre featuring A-List acts, it’s a hub of entertainment.
