Revisit your Paramore days and get rock ’n’ roll ready for The Valley’s new cocktail bar that doubles as a muso haven. Stranded is bringing punk history and rockstar nostalgia to Winn Lane, with its traditional mezcal beverages, share-style eats and live vinyl DJs. Paying homage to one of the first ever punk bands (who also happened to be Brisbane locals), The Saints, the distant sibling of The Zoo is named after the album and song ‘(I’m) Stranded’ in a nod towards the punk alterculture of the 70s and 80s.

Stranded is designed to echo the Black Room of Max’s New York, where the regulars included the likes of Andy Warhol, Iggy Pop and David Bowie. Serving as a sanctuary for people to explore themselves through music, co-owners Shane Chidgzey, Luke ‘Boo’ Johnston, and Cat Clarke have truly set up an unforgettable experience.

The menu features quality food carefully crafted to complement the top-shelf mezcal and beverages. Made to warm your heart, there are talks of a 32-hour slow-cooked mezcal-infused beef cheek, mezcal-cured salmon with Davidson plum citronette and cucumber, and burrata served with lashings of five-year aged balsamic vinegar. Wash it down with a cheeky tipple of spirits, beer or wine and a cocktail menu anchored by a list of tequila and mezcal.

In a combination of upcycled antique furniture, vintage posters of rock icons and that old school nostalgia, Stranded is set to lure Brisbane’s rock and rollers, visionaries and music lovers alike.

Stranded is now open at 3 Winn Street, Fortitude Valley.
