The Light Years Team Are Opening A Casual Italian Eatery In Byron Bay

Who needs the Amalfi?

The coastal dining scene in Byron Bay is home to many delicious faces, including the one, the only Light Years. And now the pastel modern Asian eatery is getting a sister restaurant, bringing a beachside twist to traditional Italian cuisine.

Restaurateurs James Sutherland and Kim Stephen (Light Years, Moonlight, Frankies) together with head chef Matteo Tine (previously of Grossi Florentino) have teamed up to open Pixie – a sophisticated Italian eatery that takes into consideration the beach culture Byron Bay is renowned for. Boasting a luxurious feel with quintessentially Italian accents, the venue is made for a long lunch, special occasion, or a drop in after you’ve soaked up the ocean waves.

Calling on his Sicilian roots and recent experience on the Melbourne foodie block, Tine has crafted a menu offering nostalgic flavours within refined dishes, showcasing the best local seafood. From Sicilian fried doughnuts filled with a warm cacio pepe sauce to Mooloolaba house-smoked Albacore tonno pastrami and even a spaghetti alla chitarra made with a sourdough pasta, it turns the tables on modern Italian with a vintage kick.

Pixie will call Byron Bay’s new Jonson Lane precinct home, neighbouring with Light Years and soon-to-come watering hole, Bar Heather. The Jonson Lane precinct will also see retail heroes such as Venroy, Deiji Studios, Nagnata, and Saturdays NYC reside in the space, making Pixie the perfect spot to fuel up post-shop.

Pixie is set to open in early November.
