The Southside’s Fave Balinese Rooftop Now Has A Restaurant And Cocktail Bar

New look, same flavourful goodness

Since opening in May last year, Brisbane locals and beyond have been grabbing their Bintangs and flocking to Oxford Street’s Balinese rooftop. And with ten months of exotic flavours and good times up their sleeve, Melrose is splitting up in the best kind of way.

The gorgeous lush venue will be separated into two dining experiences – Melrose Restaurant and Melrose Cocktail Bar.

The former will play host to an open kitchen view, with limited seating of up to 40 guests. Head Chef Arte Assavakavinvong will be flexing more of his culinary muscles with a fresh and contemporary Asian menu that’s designed to share. Smaller plates include the Thai Ka-Nom Tokyo crepe with spanner crab curry and wild scampi caviar or cold tea smoked scallops, while larger appetites will relish in crispy pork belly with green apple salsa or traditional khao soi gai – a northern Thai coconut curry with free range chicken, chilli jam, and pickled mustard green.

Meanwhile, the right wing of the venue will offer relaxed cocktail style dining with high tables. Now that we’re all aficionados of the QR code, you can order Asian bar snacks from your table, such as Moreton Bay bug milk buns, prawn larb, house shucked oysters with cashew nut green nahm jim or sticky pork skewers. Beating the heat will also be easy with a frozen cocktail slushie in hand!

Melrose Restaurant and Melrose Cocktail bar are now open at 37 Oxford Street, Bulimba. Book here.
