Reach New Heights With Brisbane’s Best Rooftop Bars

Epic views + cocktails – name a more iconic duo!

By Paige Van Lunteren | 21st April 2021

With colder days just around the corner, we’re chasing endless summers and soaking up the last of the sunshine with a cocktail in hand at our favourite rooftop bars. From old favourites to new kids on the block, we’ve put together this list of our absolute go-tos for refreshing cocktails and unbeatable views of the Brisbane skyline.

Maya Mexican | Fortitude Valley

If you haven’t visited Maya Mexican yet, you’re missing out! From the same creators of Brisbane’s most iconic rooftop bar, Eleven Rooftop, Maya Mexican has taken over this highly sought-after space, boasting panoramic views of Brisbane. From late lunches to late night cocktails, no one does chilli margs and nachos quite like Maya. Although they’ve managed to stick around for a little longer than they promised six months, we’re not sure how much longer they’ll stay. So, don’t leave it too late to book a booth and watch day turn to night from this enviable Mexican oasis.

Cielo Rooftop | Fortitude Valley

If you’ve got a severe case of wanderlust, Cielo Rooftop is sure to be the cure. Perched above Fortitude Valley, you can enjoy refreshing views of the skyline while lounging around in a private booth. With names like St. Tropez Colada and Portofino, you’ll sip your way along the Italian Riviera-inspired cocktail menu in no time! Late afternoon is the best time to snag a booth and soak up the sun at this very-Instagrammable destination.

The Terrace | South Bank

You’ll have expansive views of the Brisbane River and South Bank from any seat in the house at The Terrace – the Emporium Hotel’s rooftop bar. From the moment you step foot in the elevator, you’ll find yourself immersed in a symphony of sights and sounds. The same vibes are translated in the carefully thought-out lunch and dinner menu, complete with lighter snacks and a signature cocktail menu.

Fiume Bar | Howard Smith Wharves

If unbeatable views of the Brisbane River are what you’re after, look no further than Fiume at The Fantauzzo. You’ll feel just like an LA celebrity, sipping on boutique beers, wine, cocktails, and Italian bar snacks, next to a spectacular rooftop infinity pool. This exclusive setting is walk-in only, so you’ll have to be quick to claim a front row seat along the balcony!

Tetto Rooftop Bar | Everton Park

Although, we might not make it to Positano any time soon, we can make it to Tetto Rooftop Bar, and that’s pretty much the same thing, right? Elevated above Corbette and Claude in Everton Plaza’s Park Lane, Tetto promises to deliver an Italian riviera-inspired dining experience. Here you’ll find us perched under a striped umbrella, sipping our Aperol spritz and consuming a whole bowl of gnocchi!

Dirty Sultan | Fortitude Valley

Situated above The Constance in Fortitude Valley, Dirty Sultan has completely taken over our Instagram feeds. You can lounge around on a day bed, or mingle in a private booth, while sipping on bespoke cocktails and chowing down on the neo-Turkish street food menu. But the main attraction of this rooftop bar is easily the dedicated shisha lounge.

Agnes | Fortitude Valley

From the creators of sAme sAme, Hôntô and Biànca, Agnes has been cooking up a storm in Brisbane. They’re best known for their wood-fired dishes and contemporary restaurant experience, but above the main dining room you’ll find a terrace, overlooking the CBD and Fortitude Valley. From the terrace, guests can enjoy bar snacks, desserts, and, of course, wine and cocktails. Open late from Tuesday through to Saturday, this hidden gem is best enjoyed on a weeknight. Seats on the terrace are available by walk-in only.

Iris Rooftop | Fortitude Valley

From the geniuses behind some of our favourite Brisbane restaurants like Donna Chang, Blackbird, and Bisou Bisou, the Ghanem Group delivers their newest venture, Iris Rooftop. Located above Fortitude Valley’s Hotel X, Iris promises to bring us breathtaking views of the Brisbane City skyline, Fortitude Valley, New Farm, and beyond. With décor inspired by the European coast from Beirut to Barcelona and a Mediterranean inspired menu, kick back in exclusive poolside bungalows by a grove of olive trees.

Sixteen Antlers | Brisbane City

She’s been around for some time, but Sixteen Antlers is a deer friend of ours. We love this central CBD spot for an after-work drink or two, on a Friday afternoon. You simply cannot go wrong with the selection of sophisticated beers, wine, cocktails, and seasonal tapas menu. Offering uninterrupted, elevated views of Brisbane City, Sixteen Antlers really comes alive at night.
