Breakfast is the most important meal of the day but who wants boring old cornflakes? You need something substantial and scrumptious. And where better to find amazing fresh produce and killer breakfasts than at some of Brisbane’s best markets? We’ve done some serious research (read: eating) to find the best market breakfasts in the business.
1. PLAZA MEXICANA – EUMUNDI MARKETS, EUMUNDI
If you’re after a hearty feed to fuel a shopping spree, you can’t go past Plaza Mexicana and their filled-to-the-brim breakfast quesadillas with melted cheese, bacon, egg, coriander, lime, jalapenos, onion, tomatoes and sauces alongside fresh guacamole (available spicy or mild). Or, if you’re game, have a crack at the huevos rancheros – fried eggs on beans and tortilla with bacon and cheese. Warning: food comas may ensue.
Eumundi Markets: 80 Memorial Dr, Eumundi
DATES: 8am to 1.30pm every Wednesday; 7am to 2pm every Saturday
2. J’ADORE LES CREPES – THE JAN POWERS FARMERS MARKETS, MANLY
Who doesn’t love a crepe filled with Nutella and banana? Or maybe strawberries, cream and ice-cream is more your thing? The salted caramel is to die for, and you can also dig in to savoury options such as the Notre Dame, with smoked salmon, mushrooms and capers. The Bastille comes filled with camembert (not prisoners and gunpowder) or you could go all out with the Provencale Crêpe topped with tomato, mushrooms and spinach – Bon appétit!
