Bonjour! This Huge French Festival Is Returning To Brisbane For 2024

La Bonne Vie!

If your French vocabulary is limited to the lyrics of a certain Lady Marmalade song, then Brisbane’s French festival is the perfect opportunity to delve a little deeper into the culture.

What is it?

Le Festival, a three-day extravaganza of all things French, is back for 2024 and *oui* can’t wait (get it?). After a three-year hiatus during the pandemic, followed by a brief, one-year stint at Victoria Park, the festival is returning to its rightful home at South Bank after five years away.

The French festival is set to run from Friday, 5 July until Sunday, 7 July and will bring the best parts of France to Brisbane. Who needs a European holiday when you can experience it right here?

What to expect:

Wine connoisseurs will be spoiled for choice and can expect an amazing selection of French wines waiting to be sipped and savoured. On the food front, indulge in all the croissants, macarons, baguettes, and cheeses your stomach can handle – just be sure to arrive hungry! And if that’s not enough to entice you, there will be live performances and an array of market stalls offering everything from French-inspired homewares to authentically French gifts.

Fancy yourself a lifelong learner? Over the three-day program, you’ll have the chance to fully immerse yourself in the rich French culture through masterclasses. Whether it’s crafting your own perfume or exploring the intricacies of French wine and cheese, it’s never too late to pick up a new skill!

This year marks a significant one in Brisbane’s Le Festival history, with the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games being held in Paris this July. To celebrate the momentous occasion, Le Festival is introducing the Mini-Olympiades – a fun activity for the young Francophiles to enjoy while the parents eat, drink, and shop to their heart’s content.

While full details for Brisbane’s biggest French festival are yet to be revealed, if previous years are anything to go by, it’s going to be a fantastic three days. With tickets starting at $11, grab them here before they sell out!
