A New Italian Cocktail Bar From The Death & Taxes Team Opens On Burnett Lane

Intimate and elegant

Proving that size really doesn’t matter is Burnett Lane’s new swanky cocktail bar, taking cues from the hole-in-the-wall joints you’d find wandering down the streets of Rome.

Antico is the quaint third venue from the Cuatro Group – aka the tipple tastemakers behind Death & Taxes and Dr. Gimlette. Their latest venture takes a pared back approach compared to its siblings, focusing on classic cocktails in a more intimate space.

Antico Bar

The 50-seater split-level space welcomes you in with an elegantly lit, arched wooden back bar, reminiscent of an Italian hotel lobby bar. Each curated design detail fits perfectly within Brisbane’s oldest laneway, from the hand-crafted black and white mosaic, to the marble bar top, gold chandelier, sunken seating area, and softly lit candles sending shadows dancing on the original building’s brick walls.

The tight menu of 10 cocktails will be rotated each month, offering variations on classics using locally sourced fresh ingredients across Brisbane. A signature negroni will also be available, as well as beer, wine, and an exclusive selection of high-end spirits. Those looking for a nibble can take their pick from Italian-inspired bar snacks, including bruschetta and burrata – molto bene!

Antico is now open at 48 Burnett Lane, Brisbane City. Walk-ins only.
