There for you in every wardrobe crisis, a few pairs of killer jeans in your closet will set you up for world domination.
The only hurdle between you and the perfect pair of jeans is the treacherous exercise that is jeans shopping. A stress-inducing, sweaty activity that can only be compared to a 30-minute HITT class (but in the confines of a tiny changeroom), it’s easy to be deterred. But, when I say that it’s worth the unwarranted workout, I really do mean it.
That’s where we come in. Shopping for your body shape is hard enough when it comes to any article of clothing, but particularly when it comes to jeans. However, the good thing about them is that they literally come in all shapes and sizes. Whether you’re an apple, pear, or anything in between, it’s likely that there’s a style out there for you and a trendy one at that.
So, if you’re one of those people who says ‘I don’t wear jeans’, denim is forever so you may as well give them a red hot crack.
From a self-proclaimed jeans connoisseur (me), these are the six jeans cuts that are reigning supreme in 2024. From flared to baggy to straight, check out our list below.
Cuffed
Short queens, listen up! Cuffed jeans are predicted to be the top emerging jeans trend of 2024. The best thing about it? No tailoring needed! Say goodbye to spending obscene amounts of money taking up your hems. An added bonus is that you can do it with any old pair of jeans. But, if you do need an excuse to buy a new pair, these pre-cuffed ones are our faves.
Low-slung baggy
Y2k fashion is still running rampant and has gifted us with the oh-so-comfy baggy jeans. Socially acceptable sweatpants, baggy jeans are a no-brainer on any occasion. Best suited for those with a more rectangular torso, these bad boys can give the illusion of curviness.
Barrel-leg
Another jeans shape that we predict will dominate in 2024 is barrel-leg jeans. A highly structured style with a tapered ankle and baggy knee, these jeans are made for every shape due to their flattering cut. An interesting shape, this style is a great way to spice up an outfit. After all, variety is the spice of life!
Two-toned
Can’t choose a shade of denim? You don’t have to! Two-toned denim is picking up the pace with many of our favourite brands releasing their own denim blend. A great way to add a bit of flair to a ‘fit, two-toned denim looks great on every cut of jeans.
Straight-leg
Ah, a classic. You truly can’t go wrong with straight-leg jeans. Forever in style and oh-so-versatile, they are the perfect pair to keep handy. A classic style, straight-leg jeans’ high waist makes for a flattering shape for all.
Flared
Pick up the phone, the 70s is calling! Flared jeans made their comeback in recent years and they’ve stuck around since. Flattering for those blessed in the booty department, these babies hug in all the right places. Beware, you may get heaps of compliments whilst wearing them!
