Brisbane Fashion Month Returns!

Start planning your killer outfit

Brisbane Fashion Month is back for its fifth year, bringing an array of fashion, art and entertainment to the city for the entire month of October. The event is Queensland’s largest showcase of Aussie designers, and your chance to acquaint yourself with some of the city’s favourite local fashion labels. The outfits range from activewear to sleepwear, resort wear, and everything in between!

In 2019 the event showcased more than 50 Queensland labels, but this year it’s expected to be better than ever with the festival boasting its biggest line-up yet! This means more emerging designers, art, runways, networking opportunities and panel discussions – what could be better?

These events will be staged at the festival’s new home – the newly launched Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct, overlooking views of the Brisbane River in the inner-north suburb of Newstead. Due to the circumstances, this year will look a little different, with a stronger focus on digital content and live streaming in order to accommodate larger audience sizes because of in-person capacity restrictions.

“The effects of the 2020 pandemic have been devastating for so many industries, ours included, so there is no better time to bring together all this incredible state has to offer for a month-long opportunity to highlight and network with the biggest names in the industry,” says festival director Laura Churchill.

The 2020 line-up features both free and ticketed events, from pop-up stalls to unique digital-only content – a first for Brisbane fashion.

Joining the line-up of debut events are two exciting forums: Brisbane Beauty Forum, which focuses on Queensland hair, makeup and skincare brands, as well as the Art and Fashion Forum, hosted by Vault magazine editor and fashion commentator, Alison Kubler.

A much-loved event from last year’s festival making a return is Brittanie Dreghorn’s Sustainable Fashion Walking Tours. These tours stretch across two weekends in October (3-4 and 17-18), providing insight into sustainable fashion and ethical brands. Also, landmark Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct tenant Mercedes-Benz Brisbane also joins Brisbane Fashion Month as a partner for 2020.
