Fork It Up, James St Food + Wine Trail Is Back

Wining and dining ahead

By Astrid Taemets | 29th June 2023

When it comes to annual Brisbane events, nothing gets foodies in a tizzy like the James St Food + Wine Trail! And after a two-year hiatus, the enticing four-day culinary celebration is back to send your taste buds on a tantalising adventure once again.

Whether you’re a sucker for Biánca’s hearty pastas, love to get experimental at ESSA, or are always down for a glass of vino at Gerard’s, come break bread across this four-day schedule from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 July dedicated to celebrating the good stock that makes up the delicious dining scene that is James St – the resident venues, chefs, producers, and good people of the strip.

Ahead of the much-anticipated Market Day (Sunday), Thursday will see Jocelyn’s slinging a limited amount of funfetti cake sandwiches (it’s exactly what you think), a Lebanese pizza party at Gerard’s Bar (meet you there!), Messina scooping their limited-edition malt brownie flavour, and discounts off stays at The Calile and Sage Hotel. What a start!

On Friday, join the lush oasis that is The Green from 5pm for a garden party, then saunter over to LOS for DJ beats and Thai eats. Wanna start the party early? Canthino’s Souvla Cook Up is where you’ll find a traditional Greek feast with all your favourites.

Join The Calile in their rooftop garden on Saturday for a sky high workshop with Future Wild (morning tea included), then let the liquid gold flow at Essa’s Champagne Lunch complete with tasting menu.

Of course, as always, the highlight of JSFWT is its grand finale: Market Day. The street-wide takeover will welcome pop-up food stalls and bars serving quality fare from 10am to 5pm with all your faves including Sunshine, Biánca, Hellenika, SK Steak and Oyster, Cru Bar, sAme sAme, and many, many more.

All venues will also be open as per usual on Market Day, offering one-off menu pairings, multi-course feasts, and tastings. Throw in five live music stages, craft workshops for adults, and dedicated kids activities, and it’s everything you need to have you running out the door! Grab all the deets you need to make this a ripper time here. Meet you at James St!
