Throw On Ya Aprons Stylers, Brissy Is Getting A Lick Of Paint!

Throw On Ya Aprons Stylers, Brissy Is Getting A Lick Of Paint!

It’s an art attack!

By Astrid Taemets | 1st April 2021

Word on the street, peeps: Brissy is set to come alive with colour next month, thanks to the talented hands of local and international artists ready to paint the town in a wash of colour!

From 1 – 16 May, over 39 mural works as part of the Brisbane Street Art Festival (BSAF) will be showcased throughout the city and surrounding suburbs, with iconic locations getting a makeover including Brisbane Showgrounds, The Wickham, South Bank, the soon to be refurbished Princess Theatre and the Brisbane Airport.

But this year, art won’t be the only thing to explore across our gloriously colourful city. Take part in live music performances (BYO drums), artist talks, exhibitions, all ages workshops (oh, you like workshops, do ya?), and even cycling tours, on ya bike! Whatever your flavour, there’s something to suit everyone.

Oh, and for those who love the thrill of a ride, BASF is partnering with BMW to showcase some seriously stunning kitted-up cars, courtesy of artists Sofles and Tori-Jay Mordey. The pair will be bedazzling, brushing, spray painting and sketching an M3 and M4 Coupé into works of art on wheels. Broom, broom!

Mark your diaries, kiddos, there’s plenty to see and do across the sixteen days of BSAF!

When she’s not in the office or chasing a busy toddler, you’ll find Astrid long lunching (meet you at Hellenika?) or perched on a beach somewhere along the coast. Her guilty pleasures include drinking red wine on her deck while trawling the internet for her dream piece of land, and artworks to fill her home with.
