Paint The Town, BAD Things Are Back In BNE This Month

Dust off those berets, black turtlenecks and art smocks, and scratch up on your art lingo, for Brisbane Art Design Festival (aka BAD), is kicking off its third year of dynamic exhibitions, studio workshops, talks, tours, and more across our colourful city.
An initiative of the Museum of Brisbane (MoB), BAD champions the movers and shakers of our Brisbane art and design community, and from 10 to 28 May, you’ll get up close and personal with their works across town and inner-city suburbs for three jam-packed weekends.

Showcasing more than 150 cultural events and exhibitions themed around ‘culture’, ‘community’, and ‘clay’, the curated program is a collision of outdoor pieces by Queensland artists and designers, with creative masterpieces found in the most unexpected places.
Kick off the program from 12-14 May in The City, where you’ll find exhibition talks at Birrunga Gallery and QUT Art Museum, live art projections at Howard Smith Wharves, pop-up artist studios, a collected clay ceramics exhibit at MoB, and so much more.
From 19-21 May, BAD highlights the northside, with a walking tour of The Valley’s industrial and architectural studios, live art and food trucks at The Black Market in Albion, and a ceramic workshop at Mas & Miek, plus up late events, artist conversation series, and plenty of reasons more to break out the brushes!
Lastly, the third and final weekend from 26-28 May will see BAD take on the southside, with a fashion parade in Fish Lane, exclusive art dinner at Southside, workshops across multiple studios, and a closing party at Yeerongpilly’s Station Road Creative Precinct.
