Are you an art lover? Do you know your Da Vinci from your Picasso? Well, even if you don’t, and you’re just looking for an excuse to escape to the beautiful Sunshine Coast for a spring holiday getaway, you’re in for a treat.

Art lovers alike will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with Noosa’s flourishing art scene at this year’s Noosa Open Studios Art Trail – Queensland’s largest open studios art event, which runs over nine days from 1-9 October.

Locals and visitors will have the chance to peek behind the scenes of 117 artists across 100 studios in Noosa and beyond. Watch artists paint a masterpiece with one soothing stroke, learn about photography, and maybe even make a beautiful investment of your own.

“Noosa Open Studios offers visitors a unique opportunity to access artists in their private studios and observe the creative process unfold – and perhaps even make their own art investment,” Carol Watkins, ceramicist, and Noosa Open Studios President says.

To coincide with this year’s art trail, Noosa Open Studios have also launched an exciting new project. Artists have been encouraged to work together to create special one-off art pieces, and we’ve been provided with a sneak peek!

Carol has teamed up with local painter and illustrator Dale Leach to create a series of hand-painted plates and jars, which will be up for auction at the event launch on September 22.

“Encouraging our painters to work with our three-dimensional artists, such as sculptors and ceramicists, has the opportunity to create some truly unique creative outputs,” Carol says.

“This is the first time we have tried this approach and I am very excited to see what will be on offer when the final artworks are displayed for auction later this month.”
