If seeing the recent influx of European summer vacations on Instagram is giving you FOMO, boy, have we discovered the perfect event for you. Fortitude Valley’s local Champagne connoisseurs, Winnifred’s, are throwing a one-day-only Champagne festival to mark their first anniversary, and it feels every bit as sophisticated as a real trip to France.

Aptly titled Le Festival de Winnifred, the event will take over the renowned Champagne bar on Sunday 2 August, combining seven handpicked pours, a smattering of fine French food, and appearances from legendary winemakers for an afternoon of all-out elegance. With just 80 tickets on offer, this is an intimate, unmissable experience – no (real) passport required.

Get your Winnifred’s passport

Your entry ticket to Le Festival de Winnifred grants you an exclusive Winnifred’s Festival passport that you can use to make your way around the venue, sampling all the goodies on offer during the day. Starting with caviar bumps and Champagne on arrival, you’re then free to explore the festival featuring curated market stalls hosted by expert winemakers, all with plenty to sip and nibble on along the way.

Joining the party will be three legends in Tasmanian sparkling winemaking, including a dedicated House of Arras stall hosted by legendary winemaker Ed Carr, in good company with Andrew Pirie of Apogee and Natalie Fryar of Bellebonne.

Your passport also, and most importantly, gives you access to enjoy a variety of seven cuvées spread across the afternoon. This includes two Champagne collaborations between Winnifred’s and Champagne Paul Lebrun, and Champagne Charles Dufour, respectively, alongside five Tasmanian sparkling wines. On the day, you are also welcome to delve into the rest of the Winnifred’s cuvée collection, over 550 strong.

Priced at $260 per ticket, it will be an afternoon when you can indulge in exclusive Champagne pours, tuck into handcrafted canapés and decadent charcuterie, and delve into winemaking with some of the very best.
