The Must-Visit Restaurants On The Northern NSW Coast
The destination for all your foodie fantasies to come true.
Only a quick getaway from the Brisbane CBD sits some incredible venues that promise to answer all your foodie fantasies. That’s why we’ve found some of the best must-visit restaurants in northern New South Wales for you to check out on your next road-trip!
Potager | Carool
Good food, great views, and friendly service are the three promises Potager can offer you at their oasis on the modest 10-acre farm in the beautiful Carool. While they don’t grow everything that they serve, they do serve everything that they grow – meaning you’ll often see a kitchen team member rummaging around the garden to pick out something fresh before or during service.
The intimate venue is only opened Friday and Saturday for lunch and dinner, and Sundays for lunch only. They also hold special events every few months, such as degustation dinners, a long table lunch or other themed dining experiences. Both their regular seating and special events fill up quickly, so make sure you book in advance!
Harvest | Newrybar
Only a short zip away from Byron Bay sits Harvest, the restaurant, bakery and deli showcasing the diversity of the local region. The menu is created using the freshest organic and sustainable ingredients, and changes every few months to reflect the availability of produce; the team are always excited to create new favourites with the next season’s harvest.
Alongside their seasonal menu sits an award-winning wine list that explores small, conscientious wine-makers as well as lesser-known Australian varietals, and mixologists behind the bar to craft up your cocktails! Harvest is open seven days for lunch and dinner, as well as for breakfast on weekends.
The Farm | Byron Bay
The Farm is as the name suggests: an actual working farm, that also plays host to a collection of micro-businesses that all share a common goal; to grow, feed, and educate.
The main restaurant, café and produce store is titled Three Blue Ducks, which is run by five mates who are passionate about supplying the community with authentic, quality food and service. They endeavour to source as much as possible from The Farm itself to include on their menus, and get almost everything from the surrounding local areas when in season. The restaurant is open seven days a week, with the doors opening at 7am – making it the perfect pit-stop for your day in Byron Bay.
Taverna | Kingscliff
Located on Marine Parade in Kingscliff sits Taverna, the boutique beachfront Greek-inspired restaurant. There’s only 60 seats in the dining area which, when combined with the ocean views, makes it the perfect spot for a long lunch, intimate dinner, or seaside cocktail.
Open Thursday through to Sunday, the restaurant has a seasonal menu that is designed to share, using only the freshest produce from the local region – with a Greek twist on flavours. Plus, On Sunday nights, Taverna brings you the ‘Chefs Table’ – a $40pp evening that allows you the chance to sample the menu in banquet style. Places are limited, so book in quick!
Paper Daisy | Cabarita Beach
We’ve all seen images of the infamous Halcyon House on our Instagram feeds, but you may not have heard of the restaurant at the same venue offering a feed of a different kind: Paper Daisy. The award-winning restaurant hosts a dining experience that celebrates our unique part of the world.
The ethos that drives Paper Daisy is sophisticated simplicity; producing dishes that are both satisfying and deeply memorable. The restaurant is open daily for breakfast from 7am to 11am, lunch from 12pm to 2:30pm, and dinner from 6pm to 10pm. With its beachside location that overlooks Halcyon House’s private pool, Paper Daisy is the perfect destination for intimate celebrations.
