The New Openings On The Gold Coast To Check Out On A Weekend Getaway

Beer is the best reward for tackling the M1.

If it’s Saturday morning, the sun is out, and you need an escape from the city, you know exactly where to go: the Gold Coast. This sea-side location is always bringing us fresh and exciting new venues, and we’ve found the latest five for you to visit on your next weekend getaway!

Rosella’s | Burleigh Heads

In the heart of a millennial hotspot, Burleigh Heads, sits the newest Australiana bar that we can’t wait to hit up: Rosella’s. It’s the brainchild of two true-blue blokes, Jon Debeere and Jack Connor, and is the place you can go for your much needed fix of a classic Aussie snack with an asian twist.

The food-and-drink menu plays host to Vegemite jaffles with cheddar and wattleseed butter, bug sangas with caramelised onion, fresh dill and paprika oil, and the Ironman cocktail that’s made up with a combo of Beenleigh white rum and Bundaberg small-batch rum, lime, banana, and of course, a Nutrigrain topping. Yes please!

Burleigh Co-Op | Burleigh

The closure of Burleigh Social left a hole in our hearts and a hole in the heart of Burleigh’s foodie scene. Now, taking its place burrowed on the edge of Burleigh and Miami on Hibiscus Haven is Burleigh Co-Op – the latest GC eatery set to open by the end of the month.

This new spot is the product of numerous local businesses, including Hotel Miami, Grandad Jacks, The Lost Boys Barbershop and more, making it a game-changing venue for the Coast’s community. Burleigh Co-Op’s main aim is to be a welcoming space for all that supports the local scene; the café by the people, for the people.

Frida Sol | Mermaid Beach

Coming to us courtesy of the crew at the much-loved Bonita Bonita in Mermaid Beach is the little sister named Frida Sol, the newest Mexican bar and taqueria for the southern end of the Gold Coast.

The menu is stacked with Mexican classics with a modern twist, which includes the same bunch of delicious tacos that you can find at Bonita Bonita. When it comes to alcohol, this newbie knows exactly how to please: choose from the epic cocktail list with favourites that play around with passionfruit and elderflower, or grab a local Black Hops beer on tap or Balter from the fridge!

Frankie’s Brasserie | Broadbeach

Melbourne hospo-veteran Frank Heaney has brought his namesake to Broadbeach, where Frankie’s Brasserie now sits tucked under the Aria apartment tower. The casual 50-seat eatery is bringing the coast refined eats, a brilliant wine selection, and the relaxed neighbourhood feel that Broadbeach has long been lacking.

Renowned local chef Dylan Cashman will be the head of the kitchen, and brings with him an intentionally uncomplicated menu; the single page consists of five entrees and five mains for its evening trade, in addition to the brunch menu that will be served on weekends.

The Henchman Miami | Miami

Located just off the Gold Coast Highway on Henchman Ave sits the aptly named, ‘The Henchman Miami’. The new space is currently under construction, with promises that they are in their final stages before opening the doors to the public. A quick peek at their Instagram shows that the white umbrella and fairy-light clad outdoor spacing is looking like the perfect Gold Coast addition already! The vegan-and-gluten-free friendly café aims to be open by the end of March.
