This New Euro-Inspired Restaurant Is Adding Mischief To Mermaid Beach

On that beat

More surf, sun, and shenanigans are hitting the Gold Coast with the arrival of JUJU – a split-level venue that promises a playful blend of fine dining and Euro-inspired nightlife. This fresh offering, taking over the beloved Hellenika space, is the brainchild of Gold Coast locals Trent Redman and Cody Beck, who have already made a mark with their lively venues in Brisbane – Su Casa, Kenjin, Eclipse, and Kommunity. One thing’s for sure about this duo: they know how to throw a good party.

The venue will celebrate the three key pillars in life (according to us, at least): delicious food, incredible drinks, and great company. JUJU is for those looking for more than just a meal, with a stunning downstairs restaurant and a rooftop bar that beckons guests to linger, summoning the night to live on after the bill arrives.

Expect a playful, cheeky vibe throughout, with vibrant splashes of colour and devilish dancing figures decorating the walls. For those looking to get a bit devilish themselves, the impressive rooftop bar and balcony is the place to be for a lively atmosphere complete with cocktails, a DJ-saxophonist mix, and tequila carts, channelling the spirited vibes of Mykonos and Mexico. As for the restaurant, the menu will feature Modern Australian cuisine, with the star being Tommy’s Tomahawk (named rightfully after Mayor Tom Tate), and will also include steak and fresh sashimi.

“We’re really going for a vibe dining experience, which we feel like no one’s really doing on the Gold Coast,” says Beck. “We wanted to create a place where people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, who don’t want to go into Surfers Paradise but also don’t want to go home at 8pm, can continue their night, have a few cocktails, have a dance, enjoy the atmosphere, and head home at midnight.”

With plans to operate Thursday through Sunday, JUJU is set to become the go-to destination with just the right splash of mischief.

Slated to open on 12 October 2024, this is one to add to your foodie bucket list.
