New Eats: Dine Cliffside At Joey’s
Euro summers meet the Queenslander
The views alone bring the flocks to Kangaroo Point Cliffs, so if you throw in iconic prawn sandwiches, fresh and considered cocktails, and good vibes all ‘round, you know you have yourself a winner. That’s the exact equation bringing Joey’s to life.
Hailing from an envious position atop the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, local entrepreneurs Jordan Cowen, Michael Koo and Mark Bignell will be elevating your dining experience, literally. They’ve taken over the landmark site to provide the community with a delicious destination that celebrates Brissy’s idyllic surroundings. Impressively boasting 180º views from the Botanic Gardens to the city skyline (yeah, you know the one), Euro summers meet the quintessential Queenslander in playful cohesion.
Former Howard Smith Wharves Creative Director, Kara Hynes, has paved the way to Joey’s charming character, laying on the freshness in weatherboard exteriors and bright and light interiors. From the elevated deck dining area to the custom-made lighting in rattan and alabaster stone, it’s the epitome of easy breezy.
Hit the deck for your Sunday brunch, lazy long lunch or date night, while cliff joggers can take advantage of their new coffee pitstop. With a custom-built wood fired pizza oven on entry, the homely kitchen is led by former Cru Bar Executive Chef, Jason Walker, who will showcase locally sourced produce designed to be shared amongst refreshing menu items such as their signature kingfish tacos, crab linguini or mezze board. And, as for the wine list, it’s been carefully curated by Judy Hirst Award Winner and Australian Sommelier of the Year, Ian Trinkle, so you can safely expect it to be divine.
Joey’s is now open. Book here.
