Wake Up To Croissants Flown In From France At This New Brunch Spot
You’ll love Freja’s replacement
When the departure of beloved Freja’s Cafe left a brunch-sized hole in the heart of Wilston Village (The Cat’s Pyjamas coffee, you were truly the cat’s pyjamas), we wept. But soon we’ll be mopping up our tears with French croissants and a seasonal rotating menu because her replacement is exactly what the doctor ordered!
Born through the love of great coffee, local food, and house-baked goods, Clementine has turned the old Freja’s space into a modern and sleek hub, decked out with pale woods and greenery. With Freja Dunnell herself overseeing the space and menu, the venue is truly on brand for the Wilston Village community.
Highlighting classic breakfasts done well alongside out-of-the-box options, your brunching choices will include a brioche benny, spanner crab omelette with fermented chilli, or seasonal mushrooms served with wild rice, pesto, poached eggs, and potato rosti. If you prefer to keep it sweet for the most important meal of the day, the raspberry hotcake with local gelato and raspberry caramel or crumpets with lemon curd and a smoked white chocolate crumb will be a treat. Clementine is even flying in croissants from France that will be filled in house – big oui.
As for coffee, you’re looking at, Common Coffee (which also happens to be owned by Clementine’s owner, Ryan), as well as rotating single origins. They’ll also offer freshly squeezed juices and native kombucha.
Clementine opens on April 27 from 6am to 3pm.
