I Tried a Chakra Facial & It Ended Up Being the Best Facial I’ve Ever Had

By Tracy Sinclair | 24th July 2026After a weekend staycay at W Brisbane with my hubby and close friends, complete with a Broncos home game, a few quiet drinks and nowhere else to be, I’d booked the LaGaia UNEDITED Chakra Facial at AWAY Spa as one final indulgence before heading home.
I’ll admit, I know very little about chakra facials (chakra anything), so I arrived with an open mind. Whatever the philosophy behind it, this facial was something else. I walked out thinking it might just be the best facial I’ve ever had.
What is a chakra facial?
My therapist, Helene, was exceptional. Every movement felt intuitive, not formulaic. The treatment combined sculpting massage, lymphatic techniques, Gua Sha, and handcrafted Akwaterra ceramic tools, which alternated between warming and cooling sensations to gently release tension.
One of my favourite moments was the exfoliation. A textured French clay stone gently polished away dull skin with surprising softness, leaving my complexion feeling refreshed without any harshness.
Somewhere during the treatment, my mind simply switched off. I hadn’t realised how much tension I was carrying through my jaw, shoulders and face until it began to disappear.
The combination of the techniques and ceramic tools just felt so grounding and natural. There was something quietly elemental about it. I think the overwhelming feeling was just that – grounded. I can’t really explain it any better than that. Whether it was the chakra philosophy, Helene’s remarkable skill, or simply giving myself an uninterrupted hour to slow down, I couldn’t say. What I do know is that very few facials stay with me long after I’ve left the treatment room.

There’s also the at-home skincare collection, allowing you to continue the ritual between treatments. While I couldn’t recreate Helene’s expert hands (or her beautiful French accent), the products are a lovely reminder to slow down and make time for yourself.
