Brisbane MUA’s Glam Guide For The Festive Season

You look dashing

By Cara Fraser | 28th November 2024

Christmas party around the corner? NYE fireworks with friends? Balmy date night or birthday brunch? That’s right, summer is well and truly upon us and is certainly packing a punch this party season. These are the festivities that we’ve been waiting for all year, and already know that you’re celebratory calendar is booking up fast.

The warm weather gives means to don a mini dress and your cutest pair of kitten heels, grab a glass of champagne, and most importantly, get glam with your nearest and dearest. We’re talking sun-kissed bronzing, dynamic metallics and sultry smoke-outs to have you picture-perfect. Round it out with a slick back bun or a chic beach wave: the vibe is party in the front, and in the back.

But don’t take our word for it; we spoke to Brisbane’s beloved hair and makeup magician Ash Camille, for the ultimate glam-girl guide for this event season.

What is your favourite element of a look at the moment?

My favourite element of a makeup look at the moment is bronzing and sculpting the face and bringing in some dimension.

What says “summer” better than a classic bronzed and glowing look?

Channelling an endless summer vibe, the goal of this look is to have people asking if you’ve just spent a month in Bali. It’s heavy on the big three: bronzer, blush, and highlight… and extra bronzer. The perfect look to take from day to night, compliment the silken sun-kissed skin with some faux freckles and a gentle brown eyeliner.

What is one must-have product that everyone needs in their bag for events?

Charlotte Tilbury’s airbrush flawless finish powder for touching up those shiny areas as the weather gets warmer

If your function falls after 5:00 PM, the first, second and final place that your mind should go is a subtle smoky eye. A smudged liner enhances your eyes and your confidence to give your colleagues and family a taste of your alter ego. One thing on the trend radar for 2025? A mid-toned, brown lip. Top it off with a catty lash and prepare yourself for the dinner soiree, dimly-lit bar, or NYE countdown of your life.

How should we be styling our hair this summer?

A clean slick back low bun and the classic loose down waves with the ends straightened out for a more effortless undone look

What makeup trend are you happy to wave goodbye to?

Cut crease eyes; was never a huge fan of this trend.

Mariah Carey from the 90s called: she told us to sub the cut crease for a cool-toned metallic eye this Christmas. We’re talking all that shimmers, shines, and sparkles when it catches the light. A subtle silver eye paired with a glossy lip is the festive formula that we’re living for this event season.

What is your favourite thing about being a makeup artist and hairstylist?

Makeup and hair to me is more than what we see on the surface. It’s a way to connect with all different types of individuals, creating a healthy environment for women to feel safe, let go of their worries and walk out feeling beautifully enhanced. I love empowering women to feel their best whilst raising their self-worth and confidence.

Is there anything people should know before coming to their appointment with you?

Please make sure you have some favourite inspo pics saved for the desired look you want to achieve. Arrive with a freshly cleansed face and washed hair.

Follow these tips, and you’ll be dazzling enough to outshine the fireworks this NYE. So, if your thinking about getting glam for your next function? Ash Camille is the name, and enhancing your confidence to make you look and feel your best is her game. For elevated and effortless hair styling and makeup artistry, head to her website.

Happy party season!
