If the premise of this musical-turned-star-studded-film starring ultimate leading lady Catherine Zeta-Jones has slipped your mind, let us jog your memory. Chicago The Musical takes us back to the 70s and follows nightclub dancer and housewife Roxie Hart across the trials and tribulations that unravel following her crime of passion, and pleas of innocence.
The musical-theatre moguls showing face and breathing life into this cult classic include Anthony Warlow as slick-crime lawyer Billy Flynn, Zoë Ventoura as the glamourous Velma Kelly, Lucy Maunder as irreverent Roxie Hart, Peter Rowsthorn as Amos Hart, and Asabi Goodman as sassy and tough Matron ‘Mama’ Morton.
Not only has this musical masterpiece graced the likes of London’s West End stage, but it’s been honoured with 6 Tony Awards, 2 Olivier Awards, and a Grammy – not too shabby! Both sexy and seductive, don’t be surprised when you start singing along to ‘All That Jazz’, ‘Mister Cellophane’, ‘Razzle Dazzle’, and the infamous ‘Cell Block Tango’.
