Walk through Sunnybank’s shopping precincts and you’ll be greeted with a wave of mouthwatering aromas and sounds: the smokiness of char-grilled meats on the BBQ, the fragrance of slow-simmered soups, the sizzle of oil hitting a hot wok… the list goes on.

Undisputedly Brisbane’s culinary home for Asian food, Sunnybank’s plethora of dining options is seemingly endless – and this June, you’ll have the chance to eat your way through the suburb’s best spots, starting at just $2 a plate.

The Sunnybank Food Trail returns

The Sunnybank Food Trail is back this winter for its 12th delicious year, with a spectacular lineup of restaurants and vendors across Sunnybank Plaza and Sunny Park. Serving up tasting plates of their signature dishes with nothing over $5, the free event will run from 2PM to 8PM on Saturday, 27 June, for a one-day-only journey through the flavours of Asia.

It’s a choose-your-own-adventure, self-guided foodie trail across plenty of stalls dishing up authentic Asian eats. While the full list of participating venues is yet to be released, Sunnybank Plaza and Sunny Park’s cuisines span Chinese, Japanese, Malaysian, Korean, Vietnamese, Taiwanese, and Hong Kong, promising an array of street-style eats like dumplings, BBQ pork buns, skewers, bubble tea, stir-fries, and more.

As affordable dining gets harder and harder to come by these days, The Sunnybank Food Trail makes for a cheap date – not to mention an irresistible one.

Beyond the food

While the food is the main event, there’s plenty else to see and do that brings the full festival atmosphere to life. There’ll be traditional lion dancing throughout the night, live music, and dedicated kids’ zones to keep the little ones amused while the adults eat to their heart’s content.

The details

The complete menu and program will be dropping soon, but until then, save the date in your calendar, message your foodie friends, and start scrounging up some loose change.
