It’s official: the artist CJ Hendry‘s iconic Flower Shop pop-up will be landing in Brisbane this winter, and when news broke this morning, it sent local flower fanatics into a frenzy.

You may have seen the viral activation at Sydney’s Royal Botanic Garden recently, where people queued for hours to get their hands on whimsical fabric flowers of all shapes and colours. Well, now it’s about to be our turn, Brisbane. Following an elusive update to the Australian-born artist’s online calendar of events, we can’t confirm too much, but what we do know is that the pop-up will take place in Fortitude Valley for just over two weeks from late June.

Still have questions? Here’s everything we know about CJ Hendry’s upcoming Brisbane Flower Shop pop-up.

What details do we know so far?

Two things have been confirmed about the upcoming CJ Hendry pop-up: the location and the dates. In short, the Flower Shop will run from 25 June to 12 July at 1 Arthur Street, Fortitude Valley. That’s all the artist has revealed for now, but keep reading for what we can expect based on previous pop-ups.

What can you expect at the pop-up?

Though CJ Hendry hasn’t yet released all the details, we can make some educated guesses based on her previous activations, most notably the Sydney stint in May. The Flower Shop took over the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney for a few short weeks with a vast selection of faux stems, from beloved classics to Australian-exclusive designs, including native florals such as wattle and gum nuts, which quickly became sell-out styles.

Anyone could attend, each stem sold for just $5 (plus every entrant got a freebie), and there were no limits on how many customers could purchase, so yes, it was a bit of a frenzy. Our tips for the Brisbane pop-up are simple: line up early, scroll through the Flower Shop’s Instagram page to get an idea of your favourites, and brace yourself for a crowd. Yet, do we think it’ll be worth it? One hundred per cent.

What is CJ Hendry’s Flower Shop?

In short, this event is a pop-up market where visitors can buy their own little slice of CJ Hendry’s fabric flowers. Each activation is delightfully surreal, filled with buckets overflowing with every type of bloom imaginable, all handcrafted from different types and textures of felt and fabric.

The Flower Shop is a travelling in-person-only activation that has visited everywhere from Singapore and Melbourne to Hong Kong, gaining so much traction that a permanent retail store has since opened in New York City, with Sydney and Hong Kong locations soon to follow. The internationally renowned pop-up finds success wherever it lands, in part because everyone can get in on the fun. After all, who doesn’t want to add a little whimsy to their life right now?
